i noticed in a post below a few people stated that when they decap and then tumble their primer pockets where coming out clean, i tumble in corncob and my primer pockets never come out clean, i do treat the media with that "brasso" brass polish from walmart its not the best by far I am sure but for every part other then the primer pocket it does the job. any advice as to how every one is getting their primer pockets clean in the tumbling cycle ?

question #2: it seems i might not be able to get my lee pro this week after all ( trying but it might not happen ) so i was going to resort to reloading 45 acp on two single stage presses i used to load it all on a lee hand press and a whole box of bullets took just about a whole evening to load, if i decided to go this way how could i speed the process up ? i have scoopers and a digital scale but i though about a lee perfect powder measure any thoughts ? any objections to this method haha maybe just hang onto my money until i get that lee pro

Re: tumbling and 45acp loading question

1) I never get clean primer pockets in the corncob. I had to switch to the SS media wet process for clean pockets. When I did that the brass comes out looking like NIB

2) Don't waste your money on the Lee balance, but the Lee thrower is decent. I bought one to try and figured I could upgrade later. I haven't found a need to upgrade yet and that was about 10,000 rounds ago. I bought a progressive instead.

I would suggest you buy a decent manual balance. Lyman makes one for about $50

You should get the Lee charge thrower and ditch the scoops, you can size, prime, flare 100 pieces of brass at a time and then use a loading tray to hold the charged cases while you fill them up. Seat the bullets with the hand press and it will take you about an hour to do 100 rounds if you start from primed brass.

Re: tumbling and 45acp loading question

I've loaded 10's of thousands of .45ACP for competition and have never decapped and cleaned primer pockets before loading. It's just not a critical process for the .45 in my opinion.

I use SS media for my rifle cases (which I do de-cap), but for my pistol brass, I just use a vibratory tumbler with a little bit of Dillon shine and corn cob media. Works for me.
