im making a 7mm rifle for targets shooting 175gr want to get maximum distance around 800-1000yds. are there any articals i could read about or can any one help what would be the best barrel length twist and grooves?

I would use a 20-22" barrel in a 9 twist. Go with a medium to heavy contour. Maybe a 6 or 7.

Barrel length will be largely dependent on which cartridge you use. If you're thinking Magnum then I'd probably stick with 24"-26".
