Deploying our wonder weapons into that theater allowed the Russians (and more importantly, the Chinese) the time and opportunity to come up with effective countermeasures.
That lag time would have been extremely valuable to us if we were thrust into a near peer/great power conflict. It would have bought us time to shape things and get more control in our initial push back.
Then again seeing how this war exposed how vulnerable the guidance ecosystems are, maybe it was a blessing that they failed there rather than in front of our own men.
Or could it have been a Trojan horse operation from the gate? Much like all the 16s & 35's that were sold with XYZ chips, instead of ABC's?

But agree with your concerns especially in them figuring out countermeasures to systems. But at the same time I imagine that also gives up insight to what they have/can do. For example from what I have researched on the MIRV that hit the undergrond facility in Dnipro last November, pieces from it have been recovered and are being looked at.
But again I have no real insight into this just open source material.
