What I'm basically saying that if Ukraine is a shithole and it's people don't want to die for it then it deserves to fail. The country had a really strong start with the collapse of the USSR, no debt, high industrialisation, cheap energy from Russia, money from Russia for multitude of things like hosting the black sea fleet and the pipelines to get gas to Europe (from which Ukraine stole but whatever).
30 years later and they are still a third world shithole that has not seemingly built any infrastructure at all and are relying on systems the USSR built for them decades ago.

According to its information, the Mexican intelligence agency, the National Intelligence Center (CNI), sent a confidential memo to the Ukrainian Security Service earlier this summer regarding Mexican volunteers.
It said that some of the volunteers had joined the International Legion to gain advanced skills in the use of drones, in particular FPV drones.
The SBU then launched an investigation that affected not only Mexicans but also Colombians serving in the International Legion, particularly in the secret Tactical Group Ethos unit.
According to the publication, Ukrainian investigators suspect that some volunteers from Mexico and Colombia deliberately sought to enter training centers for FPV drone operators, bypass initial checks, and transfer the skills they acquired to transnational criminal organizations.
Several Mexicans and Colombians showed exceptional interest in learning how to operate drones, ignoring all other forms of training. Among them was a Mexican volunteer whom the SBU named Aguila-7, who joined the legion in March 2024 under the guise of being Salvadoran.
Aguila-7 completed a full cycle of training in drone courses in Lvov, where instructors noted his high level of training. He was fluent in analog transmitters, detected thermal blind spots, and anticipated radio-electronic countermeasures.
According to further investigation, Intelligence Online writes, it turned out that he was probably a member of GAFE, a Mexican special forces unit, some of whose former fighters later turned to crime and founded the Los Zetas drug cartel.
In addition, a European security source quoted by the publication said that at least three former FARC (Colombian rebel organization) fighters also passed through the International Legion with the help of Panamanian and Venezuelan documents.
The case against the suspected volunteers is being handled by the technical division of the SBU, which is subordinate to the main counterintelligence department.
"We accepted volunteers with good intentions. But we must admit that Ukraine has become a global platform for the spread of FPV tactics. Some come here to learn how to kill with a $400 drone and then sell that knowledge to the highest bidder," said one of the SBU leaders, quoted by Intelligence Online.

I think the doctor issue is twofold. First, they can get most of their schooling done in India where it's cheap and easy to cheat.
They are also good at memorizing things to pass tests but shit at troubleshooting which makes them shit doctors but great for the MIC pushing the latest pills.

Those from the developing world actually have superior clinical skills due to the absence of expensive diagnostic modalities. He doesn't mince words in telling me that the idea that they're of inferior skill is "jingoist idiocy" - they sit on the same national health guideline boards as he is - adding that from what he's observed, they just game the billing system with less finesse than the locals, and treat us more like the mere billing codes that we are.

My experience is in the tech industry, so perhaps the rampant nepotism makes it much much worse for unqualified workers. But I stand by my assumption on cheap degrees flooding our medical industry.

i have an advantage having been in the field 44yrs and in the area 30. if i had to go somewhere new,i would be screwed finding a DR gen or specialist. would not know the system or anybody in the area.
my experience is that often,not always,but univ keep clinical incompetents around if they are exc at research and bring in money from grants and pharma. have seen the opposite true so no hard and fast rules in my experience.
the DO/MD discussion can be very interesting. i have a bit of experience there and was around long enough to see a lot of changes in that world.
