In a population of over 321,000,000 there are some 3,310,000 available to fill the 1,594,000 spots. I do not see where teh problem is, except many kids are too smart to enlist, and not taken by the shady offers of recruiters.

Join contestNavy has to be the jamb, on a boat hanging out eating good copping the rays. Banging girls in every port, getting to know the Navy Doc very well from port to port getting the burning to stop.
I never thought I would be saying this, but...... during these times, the draft would be a good thing. Two years with the service of their choice, would give these young ones some direction in their lives, toughen them up some, so when they got out in the world, they would hopefully make sound(er) decisions and would stay out of mom & dad's basement, have a better understanding of how the world really is and also be productive members of society. JMHO Mac?I don't support the draft, but I definitely support mandatory USMC basic training.
I wouldrespectfully, disagree with that.
Cigarettes were killing a shitload of folks. In this case all that was done was to require warnings alerting users, and potential users, to the hazard of use. They weren't made illegal. Use (in this country) went way down as did many of the associated illness. Its not the gubmint, per se, coming our against firearms, just a small very vocal moronrity. But I do share your angst about more gubmint controls.
What actually happened is it forced the tobacco companies to open more markets in China and the rest of Asia to sell their poison. My family were red neck 'baca' farmers fr generations back. They grew some of the finest 'light' baca around.
Knowledge, while far from an end all or panacea, can be a blessing when properly applied.
I didn't mean to say that the Government was wrong; simply that when they went for the 'Baca, they dd it as a war of attrition/annihilation, terminating the Tobacco Industry with extreme prejudice.
It was deliberately crafted to serve as a trial run against Tobacco because that wasn't Constitutionally protected. The goal was to develop a strategy and tactics that would garner public support then, and later as well, when they went after the 2A.
So far, they are running true to form.

Funny how many ducked service becThey know the young ones are fully indoctrinated with the new Socialism and climate religion.
They will look at killing us as saving the planet.
Nothing wrong with being Enlisted. In twenty years I never met an Officer who didn’t make the same mistakes. Usually, they got off.My general opinion is that if someone’s a straight a student and they’re in excellent physical condition, they should go to community college and finish a 4 year degree at some point prior to going in the military.
I went in early after graduating high school because my folks couldn't afford to send me to college and my grades were not straight As.
Young men and women who have their shit together should become officers.
People who were in my position probably should be carrying the base plate of a motor as their MOS or USAFSC, etc. i’m not entirely sure I would’ve trusted me until after I got out of college with years of military service under my belt.
Wouldn't the age for voting have to go down as well, and the legal age for purchasing firearms too...
Really, they did not... because if they had wanted to, they could have simply banned tobacco or made it a class 1 narcotic like they did heroin or marijuana.I didn't mean to say that the Government was wrong; simply that when they went for the 'Baca, they dd it as a war of attrition/annihilation, terminating the Tobacco Industry with extreme prejudice.
