I would put a farmer with 30 years experience up against almost any PhD as far as over all knowledge. I know quite a few with Masters degrees also, and I will give you they might be experts in their field. But outside that area of specialty they are just plain fucking stupid.

Please cite 1 example of this happening. I live in NY. The only people ever arrested under SAFE Act statutes are always charged under other criminal statutes as well. There are no black SUVs at our outdoor ranges snagging anyone for more than 10rd magazines or scary black rifles with thingys folding. And no one has had their weapons taken from them because "they changed the rules..." Internet gossip.
So many on here seem to understand what is going on here. A few though, apparently think it’s ok for them to take rights from our Combat Vets with ptsd, our paranoid that knows what becomes of paperwork, our stubborn constitutionalist that cling to assault weapons and 10 round magazines, our preppers that have more than 25# of gunpowder, our anticonformists, our patriots, the list grows longer. You think your ok because your not on the top. Make no mistake, your on the list though. They can’t take us all so they divide us. A few talk of mental issues yet none talk of prescription drugs. That key ingredient has been present in most of our mass shootings and even our first mass school shooting. We must hang together or we will certainly hang separately. That there be New York City's doing in a post SAFE Act world from 5yr ago. In NYC you have to register everything down to your pump and bolt guns. Hence how they knew where to send notices.
@deersniper Raymond Hansen's case is a weird one. People I know in the 2A community have met with him and asked him what he was doing to try and build a defense and his answers satisfied no one. His is also unfortunate because if he hadn't brought the dog in they wouldnt have searched his room. AFAIK at Jake's, dogs are persona non grata. So not really breaking a law per se, but if you're gonna "ride dirty" you probably shouldn't be breaking the rules of the establishment.
The other you listed is an example of one I gave you, the guy was pulled over and arrested for DUI and had 3 loaded 17rd Glock Magazines in his car. Yet. Had no pistol on him. There's just multiple kinds of stupid there. Long before the SAFE Act it's been a bad idea to keep loaded anything NOT on your person in your car.
I won't name places on a public forum, but there are a few that turn their heads or won't ask about LEO credentials if certain types of rifles or magazines show up. Trust me guys, the NY gun community follows these cases like blood hounds tracking a duck.

This safe act bullshit had nationwide implications. After NY passed it, Bloomberg and crew set their sights on Colorado. I was there. The magban that was subquently passed was basically cut & pasted from the safe act. The same folks and same money paid for it.
Magpul fought it tooth and nail and then left the state when it was passed. I watched their tearfull employees give testimony about losing their jobs. The Democrats wrote in an exemption for Magpul but they stood strong for all of us.....
To purport that these laws will effect only criminals is either nieve or outright dishonest. The National Transportation Act was a result of states like NY enforcing draconian gunlaws against out of state traveling hunters.
