This is pretty damn interesting and scary at the same time. Video of the whole experiment at the bottom. Overcrowding is a killer.

The "Universe 25" experiment is one of the most terrifying experiments in the history of science, which, through the behavior of a colony of mice, is an attempt by scientists to explain human societies. The idea of "Universe 25" Came from the American scientist John Calhoun, who created an "ideal world" in which hundreds of mice would live and reproduce. More specifically, Calhoun built the so-called "Paradise of Mice", a specially designed space where rodents had Abundance of food and water, as well as a large living space. In the beginning, he placed four pairs of mice that in a short time began to reproduce, resulting in their population growing rapidly. However, after 315 days their reproduction began to decrease significantly. When the number of rodents reached 600, a hierarchy was formed between them and then the so-called "wretches" appeared. The larger rodents began to attack the group, with the result that many males begin to "collapse" psychologically. As a result, the females did not protect themselves and in turn became aggressive towards their young. As time went on, the females showed more and more aggressive behavior, isolation elements and lack of reproductive mood. There was a low birth rate and, at the same time, an increase in mortality in younger rodents. Then, a new class of male rodents appeared, the so-called "beautiful mice". They refused to mate with the females or to "fight" for their space. All they cared about was food and sleep. At one point, "beautiful males" and "isolated females" made up the majority of the population.
According to Calhoun, the death phase consisted of two stages: the "first death" and "second death." The former was characterized by the loss of purpose in life beyond mere existence — no desire to mate, raise young or establish a role within society. As time went on, juvenile mortality reached 100% and reproduction reached zero. Among the endangered mice, homosexuality was observed and, at the same time, cannibalism increased, despite the fact that there was plenty of food. Two years after the start of the experiment, the last baby of the colony was born. By 1973, he had killed the last mouse in the Universe 25. John Calhoun repeated the same experiment 25 more times, and each time the result was the same.
Calhoun's scientific work has been used as a model for interpreting social collapse, and his research serves as a focal point for the study of urban sociology.
We are currently witnessing direct parallels in today’s society..weak, feminized men with little to no skills and no protection instincts, and overly agitated and aggressive females with no maternal instincts.

Its exactly what we're seeing in our cities. the problems arent happening with country folks, or a lot less pronounced. I think most of us here identify. I generally prefer to be alone.

How do you tell when a mouse "collapses psychologically."

What if I hypothesized that his mice got dumb and aggressive because of inbreeding and not crowding.
Run an experiment to prove or disprove your hypothesis. The simple fact that you dont agree doesnt make him wrong.

I don't need to prove him wrong. He didn't prove himself right. He made a wild assertion based on his subjective observations.

Again i ask, What is the criteria, how do you tell when a mouse "collapses psychologically"? Was he a mouse psychologist, or did he hire one? Why would mouse behavior be extrapolated to human behavior? Can a mouse psychologist treet humans and vice versa?

This kind of stupid shit is the state science now days.

No, youre being contentious and without a leg to stand on.

No. Mouse behavior being extrapolated to human behavior is fucking retarded.
For certain scenarios, mice have been used very successfully to predict human behavior. Psychologists and sociologists have been using mice for years, to predict various human behavior. Maybe it doesn't extrapolate well, all the time, but it does have its place. It's obvious that humans loose all common sense when densely packed. The world's large cities prove that, in real life environments.

Used to "successfully predict human behavior"? I would like to see that. They have been used for behavior models and it has been debated that results are at all relatable to humans.

3% of the shit bag population is a city is way more people than 3% of the shit bag population in the country. I don't think there is much more to it than that. People from the city aren't less human, or less caring. They are represented by a much larger population of shit bags, douche bags, retards, shit asses, and fuck wads. Per capita I don't think the numbers change much.

Fair to say the synopsis above is shorthand, which defined none of the terms. The actual study report likely
covers this. A quick google search can bring it up. It concluded in 1973 as well, so not quite “now days”.

When was the food pyramid made? When were they saying smoking was good for pregnant women? Yes, I am considering 1973 part of the "modern science era." OR now days, Or maybe call it "science for sale or rent." Sorry I didn't link the definitions in my response in this obviously very scientific discussion. :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

So you read the synopsis only, but cant be bothered with the actual study, then you declare it invalid. Is this the example we should follow on the scientific method. Perhaps you could be a little more sciency by doing research before crapping on it?

Are you hitting the booze tonight? A lot of people had the day off today, not that you’d need that as an excuse.

The new science....determine a theory....find data to support theory. Exclude, deny, and silence any data not supporting the theory; or label those pushing that data as racist, bigots, idiots, science denier, etc.

Today, this is known as "The Science", or "Duh Science"....depending on your level of thuggery.

Which mice played the role of conservatives and which ones were leftist? Did the leftist mice eat each other? Did the conservative mice sit back and let the mice society fail because of "my job"....is this in the study?

Well, now we are getting realy syentifick just making shit up based on your assumption that I am not familiar with the experiment.

I heard based on a psychological study of geese people get anxiety in the winter if they don't migrate to their winter nesting grounds.

Mouse behavior and human behavior is not the same. And that's not to say you can't teach a human to navigate a maze by giving him cheese.

In 1983, all my science teachers told me without a doubt, the world would be absent of oil for fuel in 20 years...guess what I spent $40 on today????
Yet for some reason you trusted the chemist who formulated your fuel. Is chemistry one of the good ones? Can it just be acknowledged that there are people calling themselves scientists that aren't adhering to the method, and conversely there are scientists that are? Two things can be true at once.

Making shit up, or just pointing out the irony of you claiming its unscientific, while being really unscientific yourself? I couldn't care less about the study, and make no assertions about it.

Holy shit. You make no assertions. 🤣🤣🤣

Yes making shit up. You have no idea of my level of familiarty with the experment. Your assertion was that I have none, which is wrong.

All this butt hurt for saying a study of mouse behavior is not extrapolatable to humans. Which is widely accepted as fact. Not some fringe view.

25 times, I'm sure he proved his view

25 times, I'm sure he proved his view
I couldnt fight through the whole study, but what I gathered is that he could certainly see similarities in the reactions of mice and humans. I grew up on farms and have had animals and I see similarities in how I and they react to common stimulus. Not always, not identical, but enough.

Accuses me for being "unscientific" about the assertion made based on the experiment. :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

The only successful trial was with Chinese mice. Same experiment has been going since 1974, and currently the population is 1.3 million. Pretty crazy, since the space is designed for 3k. I heard 12 black male mice were added to a trial around 1980. Supposedly after 2 weeks the females were so badly abused that they could not reproduce. Most of the half black baby mice died of starvation. Every white female mouse doubled in weight and quit reproduction with white males. The remaining white male mice either became gay, or headed for the highest point of the cage where they lived in solitude.

The fundamental problem I noticed in the "experiment" was the little fuckers didn't 'have' to do anything (work), they were just given all the food/water they needed. Those little meeses needed a goal in life - like not starving to death - to give their little furry asses meaning in life. Absent the need for work, they all just started fucking and eating until Rome collapsed.

See - the little fuckers are just like humans. Give them a little mini central bank and they probably would have printed themselves into oblivion as well.
