Finally it looks like tomorrow will be a decent day here in S.E. Wisconsin and I'll be off to the range at 0830 after I see the kids off to school. The suppressor is a AAC 762 SDN 6 and she's going to be mounted on my LMT M4 (SBR w/14.5" barrel). Anything I'll have to do when I'm done using her? I don't think I'll end up putting more than 100 rounds thru her because I have to sight in a Garand I acquired a few months back also.

If its ammo you dont normally use, fire off a good 10 rounds before mounting the can to make sure they are all shooting straight and not tumbling or anything.

Know that the can will get hot if you shoot somewhat quickly. if you are going 1 or 2 rounds a minute it wont be bad. But start doing even 5 rounds a minute and itll get pretty hot to the touch. With that in mind bring something to set it on when you move to the garand to let it cool (i use a microfiber towel).

Know you might get "gas to the face". Just a by-product of semi-auto surpressed.

Shooting suppressed your brass, BCG, and gun will get more dirty. If you pick up your brass id bring some sort of hand cleaner and paper towels if you dont normally.

Still wear double hearing....556 is still decently loud with the crack from supersonic. Even subsonic stuff i wear least earplugs for plinking.

And mostly....have fun! Enjoy your new toy! And report back how you like it and how the accuracy is with it!

After you mount the can and before you fire it pull the BCG and make sure you see a perfect circle looking down the bore. If it looks like the can is crooked don't shoot until you figure out why..

So it turned out to be a wonderful morning and I was the only person at the range and that is always a bonus. This was my first time ever using a suppressor and it's very cool. The report from the rifle seemed almost non-existent with the super sonic crack of the projectile being louder than the rifle itself. Reminded me of "pulling butts" in the pits with the super sonic crack of the projectile going over my head. I was amazed at the almost 5" shift in the point of impact on paper once the suppressor was on the rifle. I switched off between 40 rds of 68gr Sierra JHPBT and Sierra 77gr JHPBT and both impacted (at 100 yards) 5" low about 7 o'clock. Wind was at my back as well. With the suppressor off I was getting them all in the 9/10 ring with aid of my EoTech 553. Could the weight of the suppressor effect the point of impact that much? The barrel is a 14.5" LMT M4 profile barrel and lockup of the suppressor is pretty tight but with wiggle of about 1mm. Any thoughts?
