Supposed to have two XLR stocks coming in today, one for me and one for a friend. I took a half day off of work so I could install my friend's for him since I have to work evenings tomorrow and Thursday.

Got an email with the tracking number on it on the 10th which showed delivery today. I've checked a couple times since and it showed that it would be delivered today. I checked an hour ago and now it's been changed to tomorrow. It took UPS two days to move the stocks from Grand Junction, CO to Commerce City, CO, a 250 mile drive right along I70.

Fucking typical and Fedex has proven themselves just as incompetent over the past couple of years. They both suck, their both overpriced, they neither deliver when they say they will and they both charge an arm and a leg for bullshit service. I hope to hell USPS figures some shit out and manages to keep their doors open. I'd gladly pay what the other two charge to get shit delivered the way USPS has done it 99% of the time.

Re: UPS screws me again

Two Hide members. Two separate ends of the country. Two same packages. Two different mail carriers.

USPS charges $8.00 for the first one.

FedEx originally quotes $75, and then goes down to $22.00 after the second member says it is too high.

I've always felt like the USPS was worth every penny, and I think it's one bailout that should happen.

I don't think they need a bailout as much as they need to be able to trim their fat and kill their Saturday delivery. Even if they charged a little more I'd still prefer the USPS over UPS/FedEX.

That and a set of fund raising stamps. Maybe something cool like a 3-D hologram of bin Laden's head on a stick.

Or just a stamp with the real death picture, that alone would net them a few billion.

Re: UPS screws me again

I paid to overnight an envelope to a guy that was full of documents that had to have his signature ASAP and sent back to me. IT weighed less then a pound and was in their large envelope packaging.

I paid for NDA by 10:30am. It was delivered the next day at 8pm.

The customer service agent told me there was nothing he could do and he was "so sorry" and I said "you dont understand, you did not perform what I paid for, I want my money back on my card". Again he kept on with "There is nothing I can do, I am sorry." I asked to speak to a supervisor and sure enough I was right and they credited my full amount back to my credit card. I also told them I wanted to file a claim on the employee I just spoke with. He had NO IDEA what their policies were and was to busy apologizing instead of fixing the problem. I got my money back and he was "suspended" from phone assistance for 4 months, according to their letter to me.

Re: UPS screws me again

...or they could just stop siphoning billions a year from postal budgets to keep other waste-of-oxygen agencies afloat. I'm not saying it's the only reason, there is plenty of blame to go around. Unions are a big part of this problem. As is mismanagement, poor service, etc. that has driven people away from using the service.

I still use USPS most of the time, though I tend to send big stuff FedEx. I do not deal with UPS anymore, they have hosed me too many times. I can't control how things are sent to me, but when I do the sending it's never via UPS.

I had high hopes for DHL when they came on the scene, but apparently they couldn't hang because they don't deliver around here anymore.

Re: UPS screws me again

Last time I shipped a long gun at a UPS hub, Ms. Ima Boss-Here declared it had to be shipped over night. She even called her boss, Ms. Ima BiggerBoss-Up Here to confirm her declaration of policy, which Ms. BiggerBoss-UH confirmed by phone.
When I asked Ima #1 for the phone number and name of Ima #2, along with a copy of UPS regs stating overnight only for long guns, she asked decided to ask the manager in the office.

He said he would over ride Ima #2's ruling "this time", and let me ship it by ground service.
What a nice guy!

Same here. Last winter when I was out of town and forgot to pay my box rent one of the girls said" No dont close his box, I know him and he will be back in the spring". She got a box of choclates for mothers day.

USPS rocks.

Re: UPS screws me again

Ya'll complaining about that "shit-brown company" really don't know how bad it is.

Up here in Canada, not only do you have the gamut of complaints that is being expressed here, but you also have extortion to add to the mix.

The come to your door, and charge you (literally) 1,000 percent of the border duty/taxes, to HAND you the packages.

No kidding, if there is $3.41 owing to the Crown for duty and/or taxes, they will charge AT LEAST $34.10 (usually a bit more) PLUS the actual amount owing, for a minimum of $37.51 to hand you the package. Or, your other option is to have the package sent back, and re-ship it with a different carrier.

This is why I ask/beg/implore EVERYONE whom I deal with, to NOT ship items to me via OOPS.

Fed-Ex gives the same service, with their 'brokerage' rates being less than half. That, and also Fed-Ex sends you a brokerage bill at the end of the month. Simply pay the bill, no problem.

So endeth my tirade,,,,

Re: UPS screws me again

I ship most of my stuff with USPS...but others stuff (actions, barrels, scopes, etc.) typically go out via UPS.

But I ship from work, where we have negotiated lower than 'retail' and with daily scheduled pickup things are never a hassle.

USPS cost me money earlier this year when they lost a package of items I had purchased as it processed through their San Antonio center, and sent me a letter after "investigating" saying I was basically SOL.

I've got no beef with FedEx, they just aren't convenient to me to ship stuff like UPS and USPS are.

Actually, I've had good luck with UPS, so far. The longest they've ever lost anything has been a couple of days. The only thing they've ever broken was some 2-part epoxy stuff that leaked out of the box, and their clean-up procedure was a lot bigger pain in the a$$ for them than waiting a few days for a replacement was for me.
My local UPS delivery guy is one of the nicest folks you'll ever meet anywhere. If it gets on his truck, it'll get to my house.

The issue I posted about just had "gun haters" written all over it. That's what made it a real pi$$er for me.

Re: UPS screws me again

I watched the USPS mailman drop mail in my box and drive off. I was standing in the front yard. I went immediately to check the box and there was an "attempted delivery" card in the box. The lazy bum didn't even have the package in his truck and never intended to deliver the package (McMillan stock that I couldn't wait to get my hands on). The real bummer is the post office is 20 miles north of my home and I worked 20 miles south of my home meaning 80 miles round trip from work to the post office, not to mention the time I had to take off work. Bummer!

Re: UPS screws me again

Like the USPS?
Just think "NEWMAN".
shipped a package of three boxes of bullets via USPS but used parcel instead of Priority. Box made it with thirteen bullets. No explanation about what happened other than the clerk telling me it was my fault for using parcel, as they didn't take care of parcel shipments as well as Priority because they weren't being paid to.
Honest, that is what he said.
Shipped a handgun overnight thru UPS. They didn't deliver until three days later. Asked for the premium I paid for Overnight back. They said no. I asked for a supervisor and was told that wasn't happening either.
Only one, so far, that hasn't F'd me is FedEx. But I'm waiting for that too.

I have had the best luck, overall, with FedEx.

Re: UPS screws me again

I have it good and bad. My local UPS delivery guy is cool. Because if anything happens to your package and the local office will not give you back your money for any reason he will give it to you out of his own pocket. Now my local USPS office went down the drain lately because the only person who was good at their job retired, so now all of the workers act like you waste their time if you go in to mail anything and my mail man likes to steal some of my mail everyday. On top of that every time I report him they tell me it is my own problem.

I did. Thats how I know it wasn't in the truck. It got ugly.....

i cant bring myself to tell you about the lost package i have not recieved from the usps for over a month and they scanned it into their sort facility 70miles from me. i also ordered something from a hide member and it made it from cali to cinci, oh in one day. i am 2hr north of cinci. it went from cinci to warrendale, pa then to allen park, mi then to toledo, oh and finally to my door 2 weeks later. i also ordered some products from harrison, oh which is 1hr south of me. to make a long story short it took 7 days to get the shit to me. FUCK THE USPS AND I HOPE THEY GO DOWN LIKE A FLAMING ZEPPLIN......

Re: UPS screws me again

I shipped a Rem700 bolt USPS Priority from Indiana to CA last Saturday for a bolt knob install. It was shipped back to me via USPS Priority and I received it today. Total shipping cost? $10. Neither UPS or Fedex could have or would have done it that fast for less than $40. One way ground would have probably been $14 and it might have arrived in CA tomorrow, maybe.

Re: UPS screws me again

Knock on wood... but USPS usually takes 2-3 days to get delivered to me after shipping has been confirmed (Within the lower 48)!!

And its in my mailbox... no "Sorry we missed you" notes!

Alls I know is... If I want something I ordered online, to be in my hands within a couple days... I use USPS!

Re: UPS screws me again

Anyone who ships FEDEX/UPS regularly needs to go visit the local facility where they load trucks to deliver to them. Go past the normal entrance and into the main office. It will have signs everywhere saying you will be filmed. And no taking of pictures or video is allowed. That's where you're looking for. The door will be unlocked. Inside on the wall is a clear case with worker's rights mandated posters, and your target. The emergency contact phone sheet. Take a picture of it with your cell phone and leave expeditiously. Run if you have to. That picture is gold.

It's amazing how quickly they can reroute trucks, deliver within a few hours, or find lost packages when you call those no one calls. "I hate to bother you, but since I don't have my package because you guys dropped the ball, I've got nothing better to do until then. Doesn't matter how I got this number, I have your bosses as well, Mr. XX, or is it Mr. XX--doesn't matter have them both. Maybe I can come down there and help you find it. I've got NOTHING else to do, seriously."

Now you all know the secret. The trick is pissing down the rope, not up it.

Now I've got USPS in my pocket, but that only took Christmas cards with $20's. Really don't pay those people enough....

Re: UPS screws me again

USPS; Years ago I used to collect Japanese swords. I was expecting a delivery of a sword on a Saturday. It didn’t arrive, Sunday I get a call at my house that my package came in, do I want to come to the back door of the Post Office and sign for it, Hell yeah…….!
UPS; I got a clever driver on this route, he carries dog treats, he opens my side door with the two snarling dogs, throws a treat to the back of the room then sets the package in while the dogs are busy eating the treat. This way my ammo, or whatever doesn’t get rained on or stolen while I’m at work.
FEDEX; Now they have raped me in fee’s shipping firearms, said there was a “special fee” due to the package containing firearms and the package would be stored in a safe overnight and not left on the trucks. Yea right…..$50-60 to ship a Garand and handgun?
Now back to USPS, I shipped a Garand with them it was $12-13 bucks, at first the clerk didn’t know what to do with me, then someone helped her find the correct form to fill out and I was off and running. It was funny to watch everyone take a step back, when she yelled for help, “Hey this guy’s got a firearm” ……………….to “ship”
