I have just received word that the Burmese dictatorship has given the ethnic groups within the country the ultimatum to surrender all of their weapons or face annihilation. Having those weapons is the only thing that has saved them from mass killings by the government. Please join me in praying for these poor people who have suffered so much under a regime that routinely uses torture and summary executions of men, women, and children to enforce its policies. Many Christian and Buddhist Karen, Kachin, Chin and other ethnic minorities within Burma face extermination at the hand of these butchers who are second only to North Korea and maybe Iran when it comes to oppression and cruelty. God Bless, Dale.

I agree. They also need new weapons and ammo as well since their current stuff dates back to the Vietnam era and their rifles are falling apart with little ammo. No one in the West will supply them even though it is in our best interest to do so. Economic sanctions against rouge states like this do nothing but hurt the people, not the regimes. I was at State a few years back and they didn't even want to believe us about the situation.

What, no one volunteering to go forth and venture forward to Burma to use all that training they have worked hard to master in RO comps and such? I firmly believe there is enough money, arms, and ammunition within this place to set up a rightious protective force for these downtrodden Burmese. So with that said, who's got the Finance covered, S1's - S8's covered? Command and Control?
SMEAC order?

You got that right..

Re: Urgent Prayers for Burma

They need the support, that's for sure. Your offers of help are greatly appreciated my friends. The Free Burma Rangers are already on the ground there along with other groups, but most of that is humanitarian type aid. I'll keep in touch. regards, Dale.

Re: Urgent Prayers for Burma

Yep, lots of natural resources including gas and hydroelectric power along with vast teak forests that are now being clear cut, rich fisheries along the Andaman Sea coast, and gems/minerals. This is why the Chinese and Indians are signing agreements with them since they want the natural resources in exchange for propping up the regime with weapons and cash. The South Koreans are also getting into the act. These ethnic tribes occupy much of the land on which these resources sit, so this gets them out of the way much like America did to the native Indians.

Re: Urgent Prayers for Burma

Well, I doubt that prayer or sanctions will either serve the needs of the poor and subjugated people. Considering that the Muslims sure pray plenty but it doesn't seem to be improving anybody's lot, and all I will say about sanctions is two words, "North" and "Korea".

What this world really needs is a good old reliable international underground railroad...

What if they gave a pogrom, and nobody was there to pogrify?

Re: Urgent Prayers for Burma

Greg, I think you need both faith and action. Don't equate all faiths as being equal. People of faith acting on their beliefs gave birth to a new nation, America. The people of Burma have that faith but need the military hardware to translate it into action. My people are the best jungle fighters in the world and take out about seven Burmese soldiers for every one Karen fighter killed; but a corrupt government that can trade vast natural resources with India, China, and Korea for arms/ammo, including nuclear weapons, can overwhelm a poorly armed opponent. I don't see anyone in the West helping in that way to our shame. It didn't happen under the previous administration nor in the current one either.
