Any other major nation, Russia, China, Japan ect Would see this as an attack!
</div></div>
Why would we take any cues from other nations anyway?
We have been the leaders of the free world for centuries. We don't take cues from other countries. They take their cues from us.
For over a century, anybody who wanted to come to this country, could. During that time, we grew our economy and became the most economically prosperous nation on earth.
Now, all of a sudden, foreigners, who built this country, are an "attack"?
That's a bunch of hogwash. We need the workers and should welcome them if we want our economy to grow.</div></div>
Back in the day when immigrants came to America to forge their own way, they had a skill or something to offer their community. Now what, I ask, is the benefit of having them flood our country now?
Other countries stopped taking cues from us a long time ago. We need to revert back a few decades and take care of shit like we used to....piss on all this bullshit. The "foreigners" that helped create this Nation are not under attack, the ones that come in and provide nothing of value and only contribute to the slow deterioration of this country are the ones that are under "attack". The scum that is here illegally that are robbing and murdering Americans don't need to be dealt with?? No more being a doormat for them.
And I don't even know what to say about that last statement DZ. The last thing we are hurting for are more workers. We have plenty of people needing work, how is adding more to the mix going to benefit anybody? They have been "welcome" for many years to the point that we really can't support anymore. Hell, we can't support what we have now! If growth is the goal, we have more than enough of our own to accomplish it.

Back in the day, people hated immigrants just as much as they do today. You're looking at the endpoint and think that it always looked that way. It didn't. Every major ethnic group that ever immigrated here en mass was hated.
What skill do today's immigrants bring? Some none. They bring a willingness to work, their labor, and the ability to gain skills and learn...something our lazy ass youth don't have, generally.
The suggestion that they create nothing of value by coming here is absurd. In fact, despite all the barriers we've put up, they come anyway--because they can make a better life for themselves here than anywhere else, even despite the fact that we desire their labor, but we act like we don't want them here out of the other side of our mouths.
It's atrocious and until people start realizing that free trade of not just goods and services, but labor, too, are the future of capitalism. The EU figured this out, and while it has had its problems, many of them are related to its other screwed up policies, not immigration and national identity in general.
Instead of wasting money on barriers, we should be worrying about fixing our broken economy, putting people to work, and making something out of the worthless pile of idiots that we have in this country who are slugs, do nothing, create nothing, and then cry while they're on the public teat.
On the whole, those people aren't the immigrants.
In fact, I probably wouldn't be as sympathetic to them if I ever met a lazy one. I never have. Immigrants are the hardest working people in this country, hands down.
They might not be the smartest, or understand English, or have a particular skill...
But if you tell them to dig a ditch and give them a shovel, they'll dig a ditch with it until you tell them to stop. </div></div>
Sorry to hijack the thread. My apology to OP.

Yes, we worked hard and so did our children. We put in our time and right to live in this country with our blood. Find me another family with over 120 years of total active military service.
You probably never met immigrants like my family before, have you? These immigrants may not be the smartest, but my kids came close in aceing their SAT and they graduated from two excellent universities on daddy's scholarship.
The face of America is indeed changing, be cautious the new wave of immigrants from all continents are not all destined to be ditch diggers. But, you are right - if we were to dig ditches, you bet you, we will strive to be the best.
