I disassembled my Versa-pod to clean some gunk out of the ball joint and when I turned my head in that moment a small conical washer fell out, and I'm not sure which side it goes on now. Would it be possible for any of you with Versa-pods to unscrew their larger thumb screw on the ball joint-mount and look in there and see which side that conical washer goes in for me? Thanks.

Conical washer?? Does it look nearly like a flat washer? Just a very little bit of angularity to the surface.
If so, that is a Belleville spring washer. It very likely goes small side to the outside. that is my guess. I don't own a Versa pod.

If you look close at the two parts that the washer contacts, it is very likely that you will see some light witness marks or rings indicating which side goes toward center line of gun.

    I will look :)

I hope that's it. Your application should be like attachment #1. Belliville spring washers are very cool items. You can stack them in series or in parallel to get more travel or to increase their spring rate. They can be used in static or dynamic applications. They take up much less space, mass than coil springs. If you are using them in a stack like in attachment number 6 and a spring fails, the unit as a whole still function's. If a coil spring fails, you done. The list goes on....You may just look them up for fun. :)

If there are no witness marks present , you may just try it small end out first.
I feel like they have incorporated a Belleville so that you could tighten a knob without completely locking out your pod. Meaning that you can tighten the knob and increase friction but the joint in question can still move if you apply sufficient force.
