So I have my VIC-123 and am trying to use it to measure powder. Of course it didn't come with a measuring pan only the "metal plate cover" that goes over the measuring stem made of plastic. So I call Sinclair and buy measuring pans specifically advertised for the VIC-123. When I put them in and try to cover the scale with the plastic cover they hit.....

So what/how are you guys using your VIC-123 to measure powder?

Re: Vic-123 Measuring Pan

I use the one it came with. Yes, it is too tall to close the cover. You definately don't want to do that....could damage or at least throw off the calibration of the load cell.

Me?
I leave the cover open unless I am weighing brass or loaded cartridges.
I pick up the pan and dump directly into it from my Redding measure. Then I replace the pan on the scale and trickle with my fingers. When I dump the charge, I always return the empty pan to the scale to verifiy it is holding zero.

I assume everyone is measuring with the cover open? The room I reload in is hot as hell so I normally like to reload with the fan on.....I guess I'll just have to sweat it out.
