Hello,

It's been quit some time since I've posted here. I am building a Vietnam era 1966 M40 clone. I have the stock and will be using a Rem 700 SPS Varmint in .308. A gunsmith will cut bbl down from 26" to correct 24". I also have a redfield scope. I need help with everything else: scope base mount, rings, and butt plate which I believe is a Win 70 metal checkered plate. Can someone please suggest/ recommend options for these items? Thank you!

Alfonso

The butt plate is just a vintage factory Remington 700. I would suggest you check out

There is a very extensive thread on there covering all aspects of the M40.
