Just yesterday I was playing with my Model 73 Trapdoor in 45-70 with plans on using it deer hunting this fall.

Maybe the 50--70 trap door if I can get the sights to keep from sliding on me.

45-70 top, 50-70 bottom

I've gotten several deer with three classic rifles in the past 4 years. Got two with my Remington manufactured 1903 Springfield circa 11-41, another one with my Shiloh 1874 Sharps in 45-70 and two more with a Pre-war Model 70 in 30-06 also from 11-41. I hunted the last day of rifle season last year with an repro 1895 Carbine in 30-06 but didn't manage to find any deer so I will try again this year.

Also fun fact, my screen name comes from my love of the Model 70, 30-06 and 300 Win Mag/H&H which is where I get the 70306 as I can make all three out of it along with the Remington 760 and 7600 which is the gun of choice in our hunting camp.
