Hello there! Thinking about buying a monocular as a piece of equipment instead of binos, I'd like if any of You are using Vortex monocular and if so, which one? Is there a difference between the 8x25 and the 8x36? Besides the price... Thanks a lot beforehand, DESOLA.-

Re: Vortex monoculars

I had an 8x36 R/T. The glass was very good and it could have been a handy piece of kit.

However, there is no separate focus for the reticle, and it was out of focus for my eyes so I couldn't use it for ranging. I sold it to my mate who really likes it and has no issues with the reticle focus.

Re: Vortex monoculars

Have Vortex changed the design of the Solo R/T?

Mine only had one focus, main focus for the image but no separate adjustment to get the reticle in focus.

Re: Vortex monoculars

I just got mine in yesterday and appears the reticle is flaking off or stretched (The thicker black line at your 9 o'clock has parts missing along with the 10th Mil). I was wondering if I should send it back to the supplier or go straight through vortex?

Re: Vortex monoculars

I loved the one I had. Liked it so much I made a video of it and got the 15x version. Reticle was focusable in this model.

Re: Vortex monoculars

The solo R/T's are great for practicing ranging for those of you that are not lucky enough to be able to just pull your rifle out and go out on your porch and practice. You can literally sit on your couch and practice ranging different objects out the window. Quite a few LEO/MIL are using them as a quick/handy surveillance tool. You can keep it on your person just about as easy as carrying a pocket knife.
