I am looking to pick up a pair, with their military discount the price is right. Originally I wanted the fury 5000 or sig kilo 3000 but I don’t need a lrf right now but want some Binos for bird watching, and to have for general use. It will be east coast hunting and general outdoor use, and some 1 day prs matches.

I have decided to go with 10x I think because it seems to balance field of view and magnification best, but I’ve never used a 12x in the field. Is 12x to much for my described use?

Is there another brand/line I should look at?

General use the 10x is a good choice. The Razor are very clear. I have a Fury 5000 and it's super clear as well. If you were buying and getting the discount why not spend a little more and get a 5000 yard LRF as well as a great set of binos? I didn't look but the price difference can't be more than around $100 after discount.

@Rob01 I looked through some of the fury’s and the glass seems similar to the viper line, which are pretty darn good compared to what I grew up with (sub $100)

My thought process right now is to spend $750 or $800 on Binos and then when I need it, get the razor 4000 lrf or something similar for about $500, all in I’m around 1200-1300 depending on final prices
My wife and I are having this same conversation as well

What Doug said, Meostar or wait for more info on the new Optika line being released at the end of the month.
I owned the gen 1 Razors, the new version is better but still not on par with Meopta.

That's odd as i looked though mine at the same area as I did at a prior match on a guy's Swarovskis, which i thought were great and I thought the Fury was right there with clarity. very crisp and clear glass looking out at groundhog targets out to about 700 yards.

Your choice and money but you would be in for less money and not have two pieces of gear to carry around with just the Fury. That's another reason I like them.

I was indoors and didn’t have anything of “higher” grade to compare with,

Do the fury 5000’s live up to the hype/specs? Deer to around 1600ydd?

For the money I'd follow dougs advice and go with the meostar's. The meostars are close to swaro quality at 1/2 the price.

vortex razor bino's are now made in china, which turned me off

I have only hit a tree at about 1660 yards which is the farthest i have had to try them but people I trust have had them to over 3000 yards on a rock. I think they will do all that most shooters need. That said if you feel better having two units then just go with your plan as the 4000 is a good unit too.
