Might help people answer your question if you included the type of scope and other info pertaining to the matter (company, model, what was wrong, etc)
New leupold VX6 7-42 56mm side focus knob making clucking noise when turned. Leupold got scope on 8-21-14 I called today and found out they are closed till 9-3-14 for Labor Day. When I called last week I was told 3 days to get form receiving to a repair bench. Up to a week before the repair tech takes a look at it. Now I find out they have 4 days off for Labor day. Once the repair tech looks at it big question mark on parts to fix it.
At this time all I know is that UPS delivered my scope to Leupold on the 8-21-14 0948 hrs and somebody signed for it. When I called then first I ask for a RMA #, I was told they do not use them just put ATTN: Product Services. So once it gets there they have to input all the info I put in the box. If they used RMA# all they have to do is verify the info and with one key stroke I get an automatic e-mail from Leupold that says they have my scope. The feeling I get form Leupold is that do not care about the customer, just send in your scope in and we will get to when we can. Then with the ten business days and their long Labor Day vacation I should call on the 11/12 of SEP three weeks after UPS delivered it. All I know for sure is UPS delivered my scope to the black hole called Leupold.Your original Post was "Is a month a long time for warranty service on a scope"?
Leupold has had your scope for exactly 7 days, of which 2 days is over a weekend. And you have already called them twice. Exactly what kind of service did you expect, overnight repair??? They already told you a minimum of 10 days, and that's in business days not dog days...Show a modicum of patience please.
I got my Leupold back today way ahead of what I thought it would be just one problem They did not fix it just moved the clucking noise. Before it was in middle of turning the focus knob now it make the noise at the ends.
Well, I was thinking the same thing but the guy is having enough trouble with the glass in the first place. Over the years I've had amazing success with "Luppy" but don't have any newer products. Sorry to hear about your recent experiences. 30 days door to door for warranty service is "OK."What exactly is a "clucking" noise? Are you saying your turrets sound like a chicken?
Thank you all for your comments. I had high hopes for this scope and it is a Epic fail for Leupold from my point of view. I guess my biggest complaint is the two weeks my scope sat in receiving the first time. In Leupold defence they did have a 6 day Labor Day break., but my scope still sat for a week before somebody look at it.
