Hi Anton,

By chance did you have me on your list for tomorrow. Charles said you did but wanted to confirm before driving out. Thanks!
Anette Wachter

Yeah, I don't trust that guy either. Eyes are to close together I think.

it was good to meet some of you guys and just wanted to say thanks for having the familiarization program, i enjoyed it and look forward to a real match. thanks for all the help

Damn Steve your quicker than greased moose poop getting that video put together ;)
Nice job ! Who's my favorite new match photographer YOU !

Great shooting with everyone today and it was awesome to see so many new faces either giving the match a go or testing the waters in the new shooter familiarization.
Once again Thanks to Anton, Kevin and the RO's and spotters for running another great match. COF may have been a bit easy but I know everyone was rockin a nice hit count.

Good lookin video!!! Look forward to the next one. As always seeing 'the Crew' is a good time...

Oh and can I RSVP for the next none as well? I would like to help RO again if you need it.

Thanks

I just posted a photo montage video from the pictures I took at today's match. Apologies in advance if I didn't get everyone. It was a fun match, and it was also nice to see and meet the many new shooters that came out for the familiarization event.

UNSC Match May 2014 - YouTube

Hi Steve! Can I get my photos from you to share on my blog etc? Will give you credit. Thanks, Anette email to [email protected]

When I made up the course of fire for yesterday's match, I didn't intend for it to be really easy, or hard. Maybe what has really happened isn't that our courses of fire are getting easier, rather, it is that the skill level of most of the shooters at the matches has improved quite a bit, thereby making the course of fire seem easier to them.

After the match yesterday, Kevin, Scott and I were discussing how we have noticed that the skill level of the shooters has been improving noticeably.

The more people practice, the easier those tasks seem to be, and the luckier they seem to get.

It was great meeting everybody, and thanks to Anton and Kevin for running a great match and familiarization course. I'd like to sign up for June 7 as we'll please.

First of all, it was an AWESOME match. It was well thought out, well implemented, and well played. When almost half of the field are PRS shooters, some of them professional, you are going to see them clean the stages handily.

If you make the stages too hard, then only the pros do well, scaring off the amateurs. If you make it too easy, then the pros do not show up. I would recommend a class system. At my local matches, they have 4 different classes, based on scores from previous matches. Everyone starts out in a certain class and then when they reach a threshold, then they move up a class, or go down, as the case may be. This is similar with USPSA matches. The only problem is that with the matches varying so much from month to month, it might be hard to tell where the lines must be drawn. Our matches in Reno are easy because they are the same from match to match.

I can only say how IMPRESSED I was with how things went. Everyone had an amazing attitude, the match ran smoothly and everyone had a great time. I think it had something to do with the professionalism from the participants and the organizers. I was very surprised it finished at 2:00pm. Unfortunately I had to get home and could not stay longer. I rolled into my house in Reno around 1:30am tired, but still happy. I was able to spend Sunday with my family, which I was missing deeply from being away for a week.

I really want to do the match again, but it might be difficult given my schedule and kids. I will see about the match in September.

Again, THANK YOU SO MUCH for allowing me to participate. Thank you so much to Scott Satterlee for the free advice. It was very helpful. Thank you to Steve L for his photo video photo montage of the match. I have already shared it with friends and family. I just hope that the upcoming Sniper's Hide Cup will go as smoothly as this match. I also hope that I meet participants akin to the ones I met here. Everyone was class "A" top notch individuals. I will miss you guys. Congratulations to Kevin and Anton for running a perfect match!!

Can we RSVP for Mays match? If so KevinD please sign me up.

Got you and Shamir down for the June match.

If anyone wants to shoot in the June match just shoot me a PM and I'll update the list on Google Drive. I think that next month we should be able to handle 30 shooters.

I'm in for the June match...(surprise, surprise).

I should have our new barricade finished in time for the match. Maybe it is time to use Eric's swinging platform again too.

Sorry it took so long but here are the results from last weekends match. There is a discrepancy in a few of the scores that were told to the shooters at the range on Saturday due to bad math in the field. I double checked all the numbers and these are the correct scores.

this might be a long shot but I'm looking for "A" box of 30cal. hornady Amax 168gr for load work up. Im still hunting for the best load and bullet for my rifle. If you can help me out please let me know.
Thanks Dave

Kevin is too kind to put this out but I will admit the bad math was my doing... maybe I shouldn't try to RO and shoot on the same day lol

While everything is still up in the air on my end, I might make the October match. I will let you know Kevin and Anton. Again, great match and I really enjoyed myself. Thank you so much. You guys are really good at running the match. Very professional but still fun.

UNSC June 2014 Practical Rifle Match

Here is the tentative course of fire for June's match:

Round count 68 (it's always good to bring a few extra in case you need to re-shoot a stage)

100 yard range-

Stage 1 – Paper diamonds (multiple shooters at the same time)
Time – 1:00 min
Round count – 10
Points possible – 20 (2 points center section, 1 point outer section)
Shooters will start standing behind their rifle staged on the ground, loaded with up to 5 rounds of ammunition, chamber open. The shooters will stage an additional 5 rounds behind the shooting position the tables. Upon the start signal shooters will assume a prone shooting position and engage the top row of diamonds with 1 round each. The shooters will then move to and retrieve their staged ammunition, return to their rifle, reload and then engage the bottom row of diamonds.

Stage 2 – Paper KYL (multiple shooters at the same time)
Time – 0:30 min
Round count – 4
Points possible – 20 (value large to small: 2, 4, 6, 8)
Shooters will start prone behind their rifle loaded with up to 4 rounds of ammunition, chamber open. Upon the start signal shooters will engage their circle targets from largest to smallest with one round per circle. The shooter does not have to engage all 4 circles; they may stop whenever they choose. A miss of any circle results in a 0 score for the stage.

Stage 3 – Golf balls
Time – 1:00 min
Round count – 10
Points possible – 20 (2 points per ball)
Shooters will start standing behind their rifle loaded with up to 10 rounds of ammunition, chamber open. Upon the start signal shooters will engage the golf balls from left to right.

Stage 4 – Positional
Time – 1:00 min
Round count – 6
Points possible – 18 (3 points per hit)
Shooters will start standing at low ready with up to 6 rounds loaded, chamber empty. Upon the start signal shooters will engage the 12” square and 8” circle with 1 round each from standing, kneeling and seated.

550 yard range-

Stage 5 – Barricade (left hand side of range)
Time – 1:30 min
Round count – 11
Points possible – 20 (2 points per hit)
Shooters will start standing behind the barricade at the low ready, up to 11 rounds loaded, chamber open. Upon the start signal shooters will use the enclosed ports of the barricade as support (NO PRONE) to engage the following targets: T1 – T3 – T5 – T8 – T9 and repeat. Shooters may use their 1 extra round to reengage a target immediately after a miss, but they may only reengage once. Shooters must inform the RO if they choose to reengage a target.

Stage 6 – Prone (right hand side of range)
Time – 1:30 min
Round count –7
Points possible – 18 (3 points per hit)
Shooters will begin standing behind their rifle loaded with up to 7 rounds of ammunition, chamber open. Upon the start signal shooters will engage the following targets: T2 – T10 – T4 – T10 – T7 – T10. Shooters may use their 1 extra round to reengage a target immediately after a miss, but they may only reengage once. Shooters must inform the RO if they choose to reengage a target.

Stage 7 – Parapet (left hand side of range)
Time – 1:30 min
Round count –10
Points possible – 18 (2 points per hit)
Shooters will begin standing behind the parapet at low ready with up to 10 rounds loaded, chamber open. Upon the start signal shooters will use each of the 3 levels of the parapet (tallest to shortest) to engage the following targets: T8 – T9 – T10 (in that order) with one round each. Shooters may use their 1 extra round to reengage a target immediately after a miss, but they may only reengage once. Shooters must inform the RO if they choose to reengage a target.

Stage 8 – Doghouse Hostage (right hand side of range)
Time – 1:30 min
Round count –10
Points possible – 20 (2 points per hit)
Shooters will start standing behind the doghouse at low ready with up to 10 rounds loaded, chamber open. Upon the start signal shooters will use the enclosed ports of the doghouse (NO PRONE) to engage the hostage flapper (T6). If the shooter misses the flapper target they must move to the penalty port, engage the flapper target with at least one round from that port and then they may move to any port they choose after their penalty shot (these penalty hits do count for score). The shooter must use the penalty port after each miss except for a miss from the penalty port. Shooters must inform the RO if they choose to reengage a target.

Damn, that looks awesome. I'm pissed I wont be there.

Just to confirm, match starts at 8.30 on June 7 right? looking forward to seeing you all again.

Orientation starts at 0830, but since you have been to that you don't need to be there till 0930. See you on the 7th.

We have a chance to try out one of jcvibby's new targets on Saturday. Make sure to bring an additional 5 rounds and if we have time we will run one more stage.

See you all there!
Kevin

UMM...I screwed up and forgot to register. If there isn't a spot available, I'll at least be there to RO. Otherwise, please sign me up for the match. I may even shoot a bolt gun this time.

I saw the work Kevin did on our hostage flapper, and it is REALLY neat! If anything, it works so smoothly, we may get some bounce back if people are hitting it really hard. Last time we couldn't get it to reliably flap from side to side. Kevin smoothed it out, and put a nylon bushing in it so it feels like the flapper is on ball bearings. I'm looking forward to shooting on it, and hopefully, I can hit it enough to rock it from side to side.

Here are the scores for today's match. Thank you to all the RO's and competitors that take the time to come and shoot with us. See you all next month.
