I still do occasional consulting for a very smart guy up in Chicago who founded his own trading firm. He's got his little operation across the street from the Sears Tower, piggy-backs off of the super fiber lines of a bigger firm in the building, lives and sleeps on micro changes in stocks and has made a lot of money. He has also had to go home, twice, and tell his wife that he's lost the kids' college funds.
I'm just smart enough to know that I'm nowhere near smart enough to play the markets on my own. That's why I pay a smart guy to manage my investments. I don't understand a single thing he does, but can see the gains to my account. I don't need to know how the sausage is made to enjoy the Andouille.
