They made the wrong drink for someone and gave it to me because I liked the barrel strength toasted rye… what a winner! The made it with an ice cube and quickly took it out… it was free and killer

I could have all the decently expensive whiskey and cigars I could handle for free, but I don’t really ever drink(or think it tastes good) and haven’t smoked a cigar in over a decade.

The independant store I frequent is managed by a friend. I get offered allocated stuff often and they don't like black market resale purchases.
The owner asked what I was going to do with some of those an told him drink them everyone.
I get things way above my paygrade.
Anyway came home with a bottle of this and tried it, miff not impressive. But wait common internet knowledge told me to stick it in the fridge and try again

I made a mistake.
My buddy that manages the store and I were just earlier in the day discussing profiteers and that store tosses them out if they get sideways.
The manager ordered what he could and is still selling it at msrp but is managing the shelf quantities.
I have been with the same store since 1982, I bought from the owners parents.

Boom Dried cherries, dark oak, definitely a raisin/jam on the nose.
The pallet: chocolate cake, lite rye kick with old oak but still has some sweetness like a cola pop.
Finish is just like the pallet . Maybe short/medium…. Drying for sure but still coat’s with a thickness. Very enjoyable for 93p

Well we decided to try a cinnamon toast.
I was tired and didn't measure diligently per recipe.
Rumchata 4 oz cold
Fireball 1/3 oz
Mexican vanilla 1/4 oz
Ice
Sugar rimmed glass (should have been cold)
That's not the "official" recipe it's just what I lazily did.
It's a low proof drink and refreshing, you could up the fireball for more bite but I liked the decision to cut it some.
Wife liked it and so did I, will do again and colder is better.
Thinking about using it to make pan pardou.

So... last week we went to Colorado to visit our daughter who is stationed out there. We get on base and she says.."hey pops...there's a liquor store over yonder.." The prices were easily $20 to $30 less than what I see back home. I have never seen the Evan Williams around here, and just finished the other Macallan last night. I also bought a Jack Daniels single barrel-barrel proof. That puts the old No. 7 to shame. A great sipper and I managed to bring home a few pours to share with my best friend who agreed. While hiking in Castlewood, I never saw the rattlesnake until he moved, he was less than 2 feet from my left leg. I believe he didn't bite as a professional courtesy. Talk about spooky! A beautiful state with so much to do. Later, I ordered an old drink at a restaurant called a "Snakebite". As always, for the true aficionados....Randall and the classic Kukri....
