I have searched the interweb (including here) and cannot find a reasonable definition of what is Oberndorf bottom metal? I see the term everywhere and assume it relates in some way to an old German Mauser factory but as it relates to Remington 700 BDL type bottom metal, I am lost.
Is it a style of BM?
Is it bigger, smaller or thicker than a standard BDL bottom metal?
Is it the way it's manufactured?
Is it the type of metal used to manufacture?

Please enlighten me.
Thanks.

It's come to mean a trigger guard that incorporates a swing down blind magazine bottom (to which the follower and follower spring attach, and a bottom latch that is located inside the trigger guard and is actuated by pushing on it presumably with your trigger finger.
