So I have my first rifle, a Remington 700 SPS-V with a Millet LRS that I've been shooting a lot lately. I go shooting usually with my dad who is a good shooter so with his assistance I have some pretty far steel target hits. My grouping is pretty good at 300 yards but I haven't really tried it much past that. I'm beginning to reload and I know I will be shooting quite a bit so I want to get another rifle. My top choice is a Remington 700P in .300WM. I really like it and I hear great things about it. I like the .308 a lot and the .300WM gives me more potential for even further distance when my skills develop to that. Also stopping power is always a factor in my decision. I'm thinking it's a good choice, especially since I will be reloading. The last few days though I've considered getting another .308, probably an SPS Tactical or LTR instead. The price's are lower on those 2 then the 700P in .300WM and then I only have to reload 1 type of ammo. But the more weigh my options I still think the .300WM is the better option. Do you guys agree?
I made a post just a few days ago to make sure that the .300WM is a great option for what I want: distance past 1200 yards and good stopping power without being to expensive to shoot. So unless I was to buy another .308 instead, I'm pretty set on a .300WM. Figured I'd clear that up because I know some prefer 7mm's. Thanks.
