Sent my R700 to the gunsmith for blueprinting, and I was going to order the tipton 1 piece cleaning rod...

Not sure if I should order 36 or 40 inch though.

it's a 27 inch barrel on a R700 action. should 36 be enough? I don't have the rifle to measure the action to add to the barrel so...

I think 36 should be enough, but just wanted to make sure before I order it.

thanks!

ahhh, ok....

might as well just get the 44 then, incase I decide to get a longer barrel one day. not that much more money.

I mostly use bore snake, but I can't really remove fouling with them. it's more of a cleaning between shootings thing.

I'm actually gonna be also using smooth-kote so the 1 piece rod will only be used to remove everythign and reapply about every 150 rounds. in between shootings I'll just use a bore snake which should get everything off

Re: What size cleaning rod?

I use a 36" Dewey with a Lucus bore guide on a 26" .308 on a Rem700 short action. The jag just makes it out the barrel. 40" would work well.

Re: What size cleaning rod?

I save my .30 rods for my .30 barrels Graham. Not the 6.5mm barrels like my team mate LOL
