Gunsmithing What size Torx for GAP action screws?

Re: What size Torx for GAP action screws?

Get a Borka torque wrench kit, Triad Tactical has them. The B?-5 will have all you need, and you'll be able to properly mount rings, reassemble your action and everything. It's a hundred something but it's worth every penny to properly maintain your rifle and ensure repeatable accuracy.

I'm guessing T30 but I can't verify this.

Thanks! </div></div>

Your guess is correct

If it's a badger bottom metal, those screws use a TORX PLUS.
A TORX will work, but is not correct...

whats with all the torx head screws on actions and scope rings and whatnot? i always liked the simplicity of a hex head and they are a hell of a lot easier to find in emergency situations.

Torx is far superior from a tool engagement standpoint. Hex socket head screws strip out way, way, way easier. Hex heads are out of the question in guns generally because they are bulky, and require quite a bit of radial clearance to get sockets on them. Phillips and flat-head just suck.

Thanks 2156!! I am an ME, and love fasteners, but this was news to me. Time to buy some more tools!

If so, would the Torx T30 fit, albeit not to the maximum torque? </div></div>

Your T30 will work just fine
