Any reccomendations for a gunsmith to bed a 700 in a HS? stock?

I have a 700 that was done up by AWC a long time ago and used to be a good shooter but now the barrel touches the stock and it doesn't shoot well obviously. Not sure if the bedding block shifted or what. I figure the easiest way to fix would be to have it bedded. Thanks

Joe walls at Exodus rifles has one of the most comprehensive bedding jobs (if not the most) I’ve ever seen. It’s pricy, but having him walk you through all his steps you get the idea of why it is and how damn good it’s going to turn out. He’s in Jax, FL

Can’t go wrong with SAC though!

For what it will cost you to ship the rifle to any smith, you can pick up the needed materials to do it yourself (Devcon, painters tape, shoe polish, and Popsicle sticks) Check out some youtube videos. It's really not hard to do at all. Just time and patience.

save your money, sell the stock and then buy a chassis

bedding is for bear dens and benchrest rifles

    had to say it...

SAC does fine work, cant go wrong

You're looking for a nice hair line crack in the aluminum. HS should warranty it. You just need to figure out what is broke or just contact them.
Thank you! Will have a detailed look

I had this in a aics for a whole and have other guns in chassis. The rifle has sentimental value and I like the stock it has better for what I use it for.

Matt Stewart in Oklahoma does good work and turns stuff around quick. I’m a picky bastard and I’ve been impressed every time I’ve visited his shop. He’s been doing this a good while and has the bonafides to back it up.

It's under warranty. Could be separating from the block when torqued down. They'll replace it. I like to see people utilize a warranty when needed.. We all pay for it collectively.
