Not bad for a factory 700 in nothing more than a bedded HS stock shooting factory ammo

#RemingtonsAreGarbage

What ammo?

Tried to drag you into an invite to shoot in western MA this week but after the fact learned that in a PM only the original conversation starter can @ someone on board.

Next time.

Good weekend Williams River/Cranberry River and North/South Trail in Cranberry wilderness.

that is Federal Gold Medal Match 185gr....ive traditionally had good luck with the FGMM 175SMK, but the 185gr jugs absolutely hammer....

and i appreciate that, we definitely need to get together at some point.
The 185 Juggs hammered in my 20” AIAE until the wheels came off the bus around 800 yards. Didn’t have the speed or enough twist to keep them stable. However, they did great in the wind up until that point. Curious if you find the same.

Finally got the critter getter T1x set up the way I want. Compact Kahles 318i mounted Sunday with a rough 100 yard zero in 30+ mph wind. Monday attempted to fine tune the zero in 20+ mph winds 😡. Got it really close. Home from work tonight after a catching a track meet, and had a chance to test not long after on a garden eater. It’s pretty close. Really enjoying the 17...

Got out for our spring turkey opener today. Birds were very tight lipped. They went away from me off the roost and took awhile to locate. Had a pair of hens come through about 2 in the afternoon with 4 longbeards not far behind, as soon as they saw my jake decoy they came running. Let them get a little too close. At the 14 paces this bird was killed my pattern is only about the size of a golf ball. It strung feathers out about 10yds beyond the bird…..

What’s the significance of another pic of one of my rifles on the deck in Hooterville you ask? Same old crap, different day. Well, the month of April has sucked here. According to the local weatherman, we had 11 days in April with wind over 40 mph, and another 14 with wind over 20 mph. This handicaps a 20” 308 severely. Yeah, I’ve got a wind cheater, but even a 260 struggles beyond 800 in those winds. Anyway, this morning we had 5-7 mph which gives the old girl a fighting chance on the ammo eater at 655 yards. Been averaging 15 degrees below normal too, so, spring should arrive in another month or two 🙄.

I communicate with different friends in eastern Iowa several times a week. They have not rode their motorcycles at all and have shot rifles very sparingly this spring. I miss Iowa at times, but I don't miss the weather. I enjoy your photos.

Thanks. You were smart enough to get outta here 😊. Just had a rifle shooting friend pack up and move to San Antonio. Iowa has 10 nice days a year...today is not one of them.

Post shooting Hillbilly external ballistics report. I held just a touch low last night in the event of a pass through. That way it impacts the concrete foundation vs steel siding. It passed through the critter where it dumped most of its velocity/energy, and fragged into the side of the blue water bowl. Just enough energy left to lodge into the plastic. In the 15-20 impacts on critters with the 17, this is only the second pass through near as I can tell. For you numbers guys, impact velocity should be around 2242 at this distance.

The nasty ass fan at a local burger joint that was aimed at the grill man. I made like horse shit and hit the trail. Not eating there again after seeing that.

Replacing the chassis mounted starter solenoid that took a shit on my B&S 20KW stand by generator at 155.9 hours…View attachment 7863553View attachment 7863554
Looks accessible? Someone with an Engineering degree signed off on this. Spec it to probably. My Dad was an Engineer at APM when the Apollo program was being built. He said " we should have the same CO filters on the LEM and the CM ". They all thought he was being over cautious. Apollo 13?

What about a nice roof ;)
I like where your head is at. However, considering it’s the deck attached to the house, it might look kinda dopey.

In early December when the sun angle is crazy low (we shoot to the South/Southwest), I attempted putting a pop up tent over the deck so we weren’t blinded by the sun and snow. Epic fail. It was a PITA. We do the best with what we got.

Wasn’t exactly happy with my view this morning. Went out to the farm to prep the tractor for mowing and found that the groundhogs have invaded.

Damned things excavated out under the rack of wood pellets. Once I moved the tractor I found this hole.

How’d you like to find that bastard walking through in the dark…..🤬

What I need is a solution to drive them from the building. Is there some sure way to repel them while we’re not there?

I did employ the best method for removal on one of them this morning. Caught this female munching on the alfalfa.

A subsonic 150gr Golddot did the trick….

Gasoline?

Have heard of using ammonia, the guy I was talking to about this said the ground hogs pushed the rags out of the hole like it didn’t bother them at al.

I do have about 20 gallons of contaminated diesel so that may get tried though I’m not real wild about dumping something like that in the ground.

Insert garden hose in hole. Turn on water. Pop in head when it comes up for air
