Maggie’s What's Your View II

Shared these with a friend and thought I would share them with you all as well. 1570 era blade, one specialist says it’s a Yoshi Michi, another says it’s not but both agree that it’s from that time period.

Hi,

Very true....do you prefer biking, running or rucking the long road?

IMO wind sprints would be very beneficial to improving shooting since it will help condition your heart and breathing to go from rest to ramped and back down to rest at faster rate than normal...which helps better shooting when having to rapidly change position, barricades, obstacles, etc.

Sincerely,
Theis
Started running years ago just to stay in shape 'cause I sit on my ass too much. Good shoes and shorts don't take up much room in a suitcase. Lift as well, and stay super active when I'm at home.

I believe Yoshimichi is a name given to important members of Japanese society. Are you referring to either Isshiki Yoshimichi or Inaba Yoshimichi? Both were Samurais during that period.

Best days I have are with my daughter and momma’s 2 kids.
They all love life and seeing them get excited about the outdoors is the best.
Getting her two and her fishing poles this week so we can all go fishing. Kids have never been.

On the other note, rough day for momma. Stone hasnt passed yet. Cant keep pain meds down, puking, lots of pain. Trying to keep her home and much worse and we are off to the ER again.
Say one for her. She is tough as all hell and I know its bad when she complains.

I think your right but I’m not sure. Would have to hunt down the paperwork. From memory it was Yamoto No Kami Yoshimichi.

I think Yamoto No Kami Yoshimichi was born much later than 1570. But the makers name should be on the sword handle.

Whats the story of how it came to be here?

How it came to be in my possession is that it was gifted to me by my father in law Ted because he knew I wouldn’t sell it. He was a transport pilot for the navy and got it for a bottle of whiskey from a marine. He tried to find the family to return it but was unsuccessful. Only the blade is original with the other parts from WWII with a bullet hole in the scabbard. It’s about an inch shorter than it’s original length as it was broken before Ted took possession. He took it to a specialist in Hawaii and had the tip reworked. Only costs about $150.00 an inch to have it sharpened and polished. She likes a little clove oil now and again. Ted retired with NW Airlines and was infamous in the industry. Smuggled out Doc’s during Vietnam to help let folks know what was really going on as an example and flew Air America. Good man and we miss him but man did he live.

Been a long time since I dug into the history of it but man if it could talk. Loved reading about Musashi’s antics and had the privilege of walking through Hemeji castle as well as a tour through the budist temple on the mountain above it at sunset. Loved my time in Japan and my experience with the people was awesome.

Moving day.

I'm embarrassed, but at the same time thankful that I had two vehicles so that we could move everything at once.

Note to self: you're not moving again, because you'll just have to move this shit again.

Low and somewhat slowly we went. I had no desire to get pulled over and asked, "Do you have any weapons in the car?"

Sayin’ prayers for her, she has my sympathies. Had my first one a year ago Thanksgiving. It wasn’t large, but It. Did. Suck. I was lucky, got doped up in E/R, they rolled me in for an MRI. 45 minutes later, they discharged me and the wife drove us home. Got out of the car under my own power and walked into the house feeling like nothing had ever happened. Damn thing dislodged and I never even felt it pass. Did I mention how bad they suck ?

Rebecca had one a few months ago that was 7.5mm across. It put her in the hospital for a week and they ended up surgically removing it.
She has a very high pain tolerance. While we were waiting in the drive up lane at Walgreens she threw up because of the pain.
Two hours later we had her admitted to the hospital.

She drinks more water now and she adds citrus juice (lime) to it to change the ph of the water

Wow what a piece of history.

It is good that you are the conservator of it.

I kind of feel there is a social justice pressure to return these war trophies to the families that lost them.

That is a deeply personal decision by the possessor.

I understand the idea of magnanimity between two warriors but...

I also understand the deep feelings from the family that has it that but for fortunate circumstance the guy that had that sword would certainly have not hesitated to use it on their family member and had he done so the whole history of that family is likely erased.

That sword could use its own dedicated post.

Please PM me if you do a full post with pictures so I can follow.

Took my daughter fishing at 11 mile reseroir on fathers day. The big fish is hers as usual. We got soaked off and on all day but by the look on her face it was worth it.

There's some HUGE fish that have come out of 11 mile.

Here's a pic from our trip last year. One of my favorite pics I've ever taken.

It's like Duck Dynasty II - the Philly Chronicles.

It's a rare day up here when the wind isn't moving. Got back to the house after the job, there was barely a hint of a breeze. Time for some rimfire practice.

P6200046.JPG

Set up some spinners at 100 yds, checked zero and shot using my gopher patch setup. CZ 455, KRG chassis, Vortex PST 6-24 mil/mil. I like the fancy sticks for walk/shoot. Hitting the 4" plate is easy, the 2" and 1" will humble a guy.

This is the diet in order of preference, top to bottom. The Eley not only shoots the best, it will hammer a gopher with thumping authority. Have not field tested the Fed HM yet, but is does shoot as good as the Eley. Fed HVM is for practice, not nearly as consistent as the other two, as least not in this rifle.

After 50 rounds picked the toys and headed home to re-hydrate with a few Anheuser-Busch 12 oz protein shakes, red and white can. A good day, only 3 ticks.

Veer, if one of our county deputies pulled you over, he'd ask "Whatcha got", then" How's it shoot?" He'd ask you if anything had a round in the chamber, then send you on your way.

Tad more laid back around here.

We're in the clutches of idiot Liberal politicians around here. I've moved to the most rural part of the county, but I have zero hope for the state. None.

That’s a good day sir. Your after shooting shakes oddly enough are the same that myself and 1J04 prefer as well.

Thanks for the offer. The kids are little and want the cool super hero and barbie rod/reel combo. My daughter has Superman! No time to make the trip anyways, so we will stick with the plan. May take you up on it for me and momma. Most of my fishin gear is for AK and too much for here. Also need advice on lures (dont ask 1J04!) and bait for CO if you care to share knowledge.

She is doing better. Some rough times and better. Talked to the urologist today. Going in next week to pluck the rest of em (more than a few between both sides) so she doesnt have to do this crap again. For that I am greatful!

Thanks for all the well wishes gentlemen.

Oh sweet jesus, as a partial supplier of shiny beads and trinkets to the “lure master” for he who has taken up residence in the Gulag, that is hysterical !

Oh, BTW, You’d a ‘thunk that the delivery of a brand new, in the white (assumption on my part....) xtra small fleshlight woulda provided him with some motivation to “bang them out” quicker than what he did. I think it’s all to do with a propane bottle hangover.....can’t blame the poor guy, I kinda feel sorry for him....;)
