    • Works with the TransApps environment
    • Integrated laser rangefinder, NV, and Thermal optics
    • Anti-fratricide system (will alert when the scope is pointed at a designated blufor target)
    • Radio synchronization
    • Applied Ballistics software inside
    • The demoed prototype is about twice as large as the expected production model (there seems to be two prototypes in the article though)
    • No mention of wind compensation yet, but the Applied Ballistics software can pull data from a Kestrel wind meter.

While probably great for military applications. On the civilian market I would say "where's the fun in that?"

Shooting is part art art and part science. I enjoy figuring things out and becoming honed at my skill. I don't want to just purchase the ability with things like this and trackingpoint.

Some day people are going to lose that skill because of devices like this and it's really going to suck for them to try and figure out analog when that junk breaks down, haha.

You can do the same thing with a Wilcox RaptarS... pretty close anyway

This tech is a lot older than you realize, we tested this stuff with Trijicon over 8 years ago, they had the Lockheed people on it for their stuff.

It really depends on how much money you have, as you can put together stuff that exceed what the Tracking Point did, just cost you a lot of money. Lasers that read the wind, $25k, Raptar, $7k, Thermal connected to AB Raptar that moves the carrot, $13k... combine all that you and you have it, so $50k not counting the rifle and you have it

It would be nice to have everything in one unit. Instead of 5 different pieces.

Yeah, well fucking fund me a machine shop and I'll fix that for 'ya. I've been bitching about it too, I've got plans to fit all the shit in the handguard.

BTW, making killing easier is what military shit is for. If you want the challenge, stay away from the advanced killing technology. BTW, I somewhat agree --not drawing a paycheck for aiming rifles at people anymore, I don't have much need for it either. But I would like a range finder, IR laser and flashlight all assembled in one unit that is light and made to last. I do keep one of these rifles handy for home defense and when I wake up at 3am and I'm not looking for a challenge to my arts or sciences, I want, well, efficient.

I'm not so sure the TP technology is quite it, I do see an application to make a sniper's job FASTER or easier, but not the way they employ it. I think IFF technology isn't a bad idea provided it can be turned off, but we already have stuff like that.

What I'd like to see is full integration into FBCB2 (or whatever they call it now) with a downsized version of the EPLRS and MILIOS integrated into the weapon. Just peeking through the scope for a call for fire mission would be nice. Being able to combine two MOS, sniper and airborne laser designator...

Civilian applications? Practically none. But come on, who the fuck hasn't seen the new thermal overlay technology with the PSQ20's and thought, "HOLY SHIT, WANT!"
