I bought some factory 2nd 155gr .308 bullets from Midway recently. The box came with generic label, and no name brand. Called up tech support and they don't know the manufacture either. Here's the P/N from Midway website:
  • Product #: 974257
  • Factory Second Bullets #: 847761
Here's the average data from bullets I measured:
Avg Weight: 154.9 (stdev = 0.1735)
Avg Base to Ogive: 0.527" (stdev = 0.005852)
Avg Length: 1.199" (stdev = 0.008669)

So which bullet do I actually have? Sierra, Nosler? Berger?

They look like either Sierra or Nosler looking at the pic on midway site.
Hope this helps,
Cheers

If it was listed as Palma 155gr on the midway site, I would bet it is the Sierra 2156 bullet. I bought some a few months ago and measured the OAL, and per the techs at Sierra they were within spec of the 2156 Palma bullet, and way too long to be the 2155 bullet.

JBM gives the length of the 2156 as 1.210”. 2155 as 1.131” and Nosler as 1.145”
