I am considering getting a magnifier to go behind an Aimpoint M2. I am figuring 3x is good enough but the price of the monoculars with no reticles is higher than alot of scopes. Which magnifiers should I be looking at? It will need to fit into a LaRue flip mount.

Re: Which Magnifier?

I would recommend the Aimpoint 3x magnifier:

After trying numerous different configurations I found that the closer you can get the Magnifier to the Aimpoint the better the sight picture looks. You can apply the info in this article with the Aimpoint M2 / M3 using a standard mount instead of a cantalever mount (the mount trick won't work on the M2 mount, but if you use a standard mount you can get the Magnifier very close to the Aimpoint):

Hope this helps

Re: Which Magnifier?

Keep your eyes open for the Larue "Po Boy Special" which still pop up now and again. I sold one recently for $175. It's only 2.5X but will give you a decent magnifier in a Larue mount without breaking the bank. I have seen three or four sell in the last month on different forums.

Re: Which Magnifier?

I've got the Vortex 3x mag on an AR15 with an Eotech. I really like the focus, gives me a very crisp image as I can adjust it to my eyes. Also I like the fact that I can center the red dot in the magnifier with the vertical/horizontal adjustment screws.

The glass is very good, although I do not have any comparison with the Aimpoint, but for the price it's hard to beat.

Re: Which Magnifier?

I have an Aimpoint 3x in a Larue tilt mount behind my Comp M2 in a Larue mount, I really do like this set up, perfect alignment, I can hit targets out to 500 with ease, and most importantly I can ID my target. I do wonder however, why I had to pay so much or this set up. I wonder if a lesser expensive magnifier would also fit in the Larue mount and be just as good.
