Which weather reader to buy?

Hello all,

I need to get something to read wind, density altitude, and temperature. A compass heading feature would also be nice. I'm pretty hard on gear, and willing to spend up to $400, although less would certainly be nice.

Does anyone have a recommendation?

Kestrel 4000 or 4500

I could be wrong but I think the 4500 is the only one with DA and a compass. You can find them new for around $300 new or less if you look around. If you want to spend a little extra you can get a Bluetooth model that can be used with some ballistic programs.

in that range i think the standard is the kestrel 4500 w/ bluetooth. they work pretty dang well. i had a chance to use one last weekend.

4500NV and you could still have about 90 left over for something else

Thank you all very much for the replies, Kestrel 4000 or 4500nv it is.

This snipers hide membership is turning out to be expensive. In the last two weeks, I've spent a lot.

$2,120 for a USO scope
$99 for a belt die
$230 for stainless tumbling equipment

Now I'm on to the Kestrel and possibly a G7 rangefinder. Will it ever end?

+ 1 on the kestrel 4500 have it use it all the time, easy to use. You won't be disappointed.
