Why does this guy hate his USMC son?

Big difference if his son is a msg of H&S or a 0311

Perhaps the son is the pogue of pogues but he wont be going alone and if he doesnt shudder at the thought of his own kid fighting "to free Crimea" than he might want to consider the line Grunts that will be outside the wire his son is hiding behind.

So stupid.

Do any of the people with their panties in a wad actually understand the history of the Crimea?

At one time it was the seat of the last of the "Golden Horde", the mongols that Moscow sent fealty to every year to keep them from sacking the country a second time. It was their introduction to living under Stalin like conditions and developing a paranoia and secrecy to avoid their harsh masters.

The Mongols sat in Crimea drinking and partying for quite awhile until their grip on Rus was broken. Ghengis Khan, His Son, Ivan the Terrible what a cast of characters. Ghenghis had a on that decided to settle down some and become less of a mobile warrior. Ivan the Terrible decided to kill his son in a fit of rage with a walking stick.

Crimea was part of Russia until Stalin decided he needed to increase the "standoff" of possible invaders after WWII.

He pushed the western borders of the CCCP Republics further East (Parts of Poland became Ukraine) and exchanged some Russian territory to the eastern countries - the Crimea was attached to the Ukraine.

If anything Im thinking Poland might want to be bitching to the world court for the land they lost to the Ukraine.

Lots of bloody wars have been fought over Crimea, (Just ask our former masters the British) and if the USA goes in to take it by military force, my guess is the Russians will probably go nuclear over it, as it's rather important to them historically, strategically & culturally.

I think that's why nobody with a level head has any notion of getting crimea back from Russia.
The negotiations are over the rest of the Ukraine where the Russians have helped the Ethnic Russians in the East establish a defacto state.

That could probably be resolved if there was an agreement that the Ukraine would stay Neutral and not become a staging ground for foreign or NATO troops right on Russia's border & a bit of self rule for the Ethnic Russians living there.

Its another case of lunatics drawing lines without regard to cultural/ethnic divisions.

In addition to creating standoff Im guessing Stalin thought adding Russians to the Ukrainian population would water down the Ukrainian influence.

Lots of bad blood between the two.

Stalin starved some 7 millions Ukrainians to death during collectivization and the Ukrainians welcomed the Nazi troops with bread and salt*.

This conflict is a replay of Yugoslavia in the 90s, the ongoing middle east BS, the separation of Czech and Slovakia. Drawing arbitrary lines on the globe does not make for peaceful neighbors.

Putin is just trying to recreate a pre 1952 Russia. He doesnt care about "standoff", he sees a Russian speaking population, and he wants access to energy/the Black Sea.

*which the Germans probably took and enjoyed than started treating the population like Untermenschen unless allowing them to be death camp guards.

The whole Stalin Era and WWII era was pretty rotten if you were in the Ukraine, anybody who could leave tried (my ancestors included)
First you have the Communists run two big forced starvation campaigns killing off tons of you, to root out any resistance to their rule
(Right about the time the filthy communist loving "news" here is this country was blathering on about "Kind uncle Joe" and saying there was no problem).

Then the Nazis came and well of course, the enemy of my enemy must be my friend right?.... Wrong... Nazis then start treating the locals kind of like they treated the jews.... Then the Communists win... come flooding back into your area and want some harsh retribution for you having been under Nazi rule. Oh and if you were one of the "lucky" ones who got conscripted from the Ukraine to fight the Winter wars up north & the war of continuation... well you never made it back home... when the POWs were exchanged, the communists made sure none of their side made it back to their homes.

Just like England did with northern Ireland, Stalin expelled a large number of ethnic Ukrainians from the east, filled it with their own hand picked Russian settlers and then proceeded to be much nicer to the east than they were to the west... And now you have the nice mess on your hands...

Putin shit all over the Budapest Memorandum when he annexed Crimea. Obama let him do it.

The Ukrainians should be pissed.

At the very least, Russia should be sanctioned for breaking the terms of the Memorandum. The sanctions should be similar to North Korea's because Putin was messing with a nuclear non-proliferation agreement.

Prior to Russia taking Crimea, we spent 15 yrs expanding NATO toward Russia. There was talk of Ukraine joining NATO. I guess everyone just thought they'd lose their black sea base or keep it in a NATO country???

I think Putin is a POS, but no worse than some of our own.

Crimea was way more Russian than the rest of the territory they've taken/annexed. The South Ossetia War, that happened under Bush (who did nothing), was little more than a Russian hoard of raping and pillaging barbarians descending on a part of Georgia where there were zero Russians. Putin has taken the Russian military from there back to a legit fighting force in the last ten years.

I do believe that we need to stop Putin from his plan to reconstitute the USSR. Being strong (both in our international stances and positions, and militarily) will most likely be enough until the next limp wrist becomes President and he's free to attack again.

It’s not that he hates his son, just that the agenda and narrative greatly supersede the welfare of his life. It’s typical cult mentality (illness) that you see in places like AA
