Wisdom tooth removal

i was lucky i only had 3 to begin with.

my brother had all 4 taken out at one time while he was in HS

he got the stomach bug that night and started puking his brains out

ripped his stiches all to shit so he was puking... bleeding like a stuck pig...and puking from swallowing blood.

full on disaster

have fun.....hope i didnt make you sweat too much on the table o_O

Fuck AJ, how fucking old are you? You've had them this long, why take them out now? My dentist wants to pull mine but can't come up with a reason beyond "everyone else is doing it." I keep telling her "they've been in there this long and haven't caused a problem..."

Had mine taken out last year. Two out of three were at an angle so it took awhile. It's not as bad as some make out, as long as you don't get a dry socket...

Good luck

I got one sideways ready to cause a shit storm.

I have 5. No shit, 5. Only one has come through but it's keeping it's ass tame at the moment (knock on wood). Considering a bad go-cart accident I had along with catching a baseball in the face when I was in my teens, teeth have held up well. Luckily I've only lost a ring finger (reattached) since then.

I have a buddy that went at his. Surgical pliers, hydrocodone and all. Failed, but not for lack of trying - he broke it to the point where he couldn't grab it any longer. Makes me cringe thinking about that. Still trying to decide if he is a pure bad-ass or messed up in the head.

I had 3 impacted. Had all 4 taken out at one sitting, with a local anesthetic. All I could afford at the time was a student dentist. I do remember his knee on my chest, I shit you not.

Swollen face like Dizzy Gillespie, for almost a week. Had to hold icepacks on my face for any relief. Not recommended. I still don't understand why they don't take out the back molars instead, and let the 'wisdom teeth' move forward. Chances are, there's at least 1 cavity in at least 1 of them molars anyways, so start fresh.

Did two at a time. Left side first, and told them I have no interest in pulling the right side any time soon. Left side was continually getting food stuck in the gums and causing abscesses so I was relieved to have those gone, but right side is staying until I have a good reason to pull them out.

5 frikken wisdom teeth. You are a lopsided Freddy Mercury ?

I wish! Minus that whole cock penetrating my mouth daily thing... and the AIDS.

Nay, they are pretty deep according to the x-ray. I hope they don't start doing anything crazy because they've told me before that I'll be losing a little bone with that extraction.

Dentist: Ok, have a seat right here.
AJ: Yes sir. LGOWI...
Dentist: Ok, will do! We are going to go for this one right there. Some call it the LGOWI tooth in parts of Africa and South America.
AJ: Noooo!!
Dentist: All done with that one.
AJ: We need to take this slow now Doc. I feel - different.

I had one wisdom tooth come in, lower right. I got a new dentist in 1983, after not going to the dentist for years. First thing he wanted to do was pull my wisdom tooth. I asked him, "Did it grow in straight?" Him: "Yes." Me: "Is it crowding any of my other teeth?" Him: "No." Me: I brush it every day. I can floss between it and the tooth in front of it. I say we leave it in." Him: "OK." It's been there ever since, not causing any problems.

Good luck AJ.

I got my four pulled in bootcamp in Orlando. They had come in at an angle so they could really not be brushed properly. The Tech put me in the chair. The dentist (a full bird) came in and looked three seconds, confirmed that I was their to get them removed and told the tech to numb me up, then he left the room. Five minutes later he returned and poked at my gums a bit, when I flinched he said we will wait two more minutes.

There was a timer that looked like a clock on the wall set to zero. The Dentist told the tech start the timer. Then he turned to me and said: "you are going to feel a push then a pull, hold your head as still as you can." He went in and I felt the push/pull at each corner. Then the dentist sat back in his chair. I asked him "through my cocaine/novocain numbed mouth "Doc when are we gonna start?" His response was to hold up a cloth with four bloody teeth on it.

I looked at the clock elapsed time 105 seconds. He gave me a script for some pain pills (I did not take any) told me no solid food today. The chow hall served strip steaks that night. Fuck that no solid food. I cut it small and chewed carefully, but I ate a damm strip steak that night.

Meh, it could be a lot worse. I had 4 removed about 35ish years ago. All was well, until I watched the news the next morning, and saw my oral surgeon being escorted out of his office, in cuffs, by a couple U.S. Marshalls . Turns out he was trying to have a business partner killed to collect insurance money. The partner was Sam Garrison, who was a minority counsel in the Watergate hearings. I later found out that they picked him up less than 30 min. after my surgery.

I'm glad I went first because that is hard to top.

@diverdon I WISH!!!!!

Sounds like your guy knew what he was doing. Obviously, my dentist (student) was the son of Sun Tzu and had been trained under Edward Scissorhands or something. The complete opposite of performance, quality, and happiness. Believe me.

He defiantly knew what he was doing. My dentist in civilian life had recommended that I get it done in the service because "those guys do more wisdom teeth in a month than our surgeon will do in his entire career." Yet to be fair to your guy every situation is different and sometimes they need to cut just to get at them.

Back in the day....I had a few removed. two words for ya.........Sodium Pentathol IV, he had "recovery rooms" Yep you needed someone to drive you home.

I got all four of mine pulled, I never been the same since...:ROFLMAO::LOL:

The bottom two they pulled after they got infected. Several years later the top wisdom teeth had floated own until they could get caught on my bottom teeth. So I had them pulled before I chipped a tooth on one or something.

Had mine taken out at Parris Island.

It was masonry work. I was awake for it. The dentist cut the gums than used a chisel and hammer to shatter the teeth and pull the pieces. I remember peeking beneath the surgical cover over my eyes when he said "Okay your going to feel a sharp blow" than he drew back his "hammer" and whacked the "chisel".

At least he did a good job on the novacaine because other than banging my head around I felt no pain.

Got me a night in the hospital with no DI, no games, and 4 days of light duty sitting on a foot locker while others pulled mess and maintenance duty.

I truly had "wisdom" teeth.

Getting a "dry socket" sucked kind of.

I was voluntold mine had to come out after a dental inspection by a Navy doc/dentist. All 4 of them. They kept hitting me with novacaine, which wasn’t cutting it. They ended up giving me some strong ass shit, and to this day I don’t remember what it was, but it had me TRIPPING. Funnest walk back to the barracks.

Take some Vitamin M and be prepared to eat some “soft foods” for a couple days.

I got really lucky. Three came in. All still in place . No problems.

No sooner than checking in to NAS Boca Chica and still staying in the Navy Lodge, I had to go get some of me Wisdom removed from my mouth. I'll never forget the dam they put in and your mouth pried wide open as far as it could go, then the good Squid Doc going in for the kill. The Son of a Bitch was on the wrong side and I could feel the pressure of him taking a death grip on the wrong fucking toof. Pop, out it came. Finally got it across to him it's the other one on the other side. Got a twofer thx to LTJG Dip Stick.

I had three of the four pulled one at a time as needed. Wasnt too bad, other than getting called into work a few hours after the last one was pulled.

Oh man,

I had two out while awake, then followed by another two later and was put under. The two I was awake for, while the sound effects were charming, wasn’t bad and ate tacos that night.

The two I was under for was another story, after brushing the shoe prints off my chest was pretty doped up for a day or two.

Had mine pulled at 18... told me to count backwards from 100 shot the dope in me and I think I made it to 98-97... had fun on the pain pills tho...

I have been lucky and have all of my teeth at 70.

I go to the Dentist twice a year for clean-out and check-up but don't let them work on them much.

They have worked for 70 years so don't fuck with things!

Pack them with Cope or Husky fine cut in the AM and move on.

an indian boy had to have 232 teeth here is the video

Sometimes they come out quick and easy. Other times they are a bear. Shucking teeth on the 17-21 yo is easy. Their bone is pliable. Its you old bastards that kept them in for a long time that can get tricky. If they are fully erupted, upright, and you are able to masticate with them and keep them clean then leave them in. Its the partially erupted ones that cause the issues. Those have to go. Can't drop you off on a mountaintop in A-stan and then have to medically evac you because you decided to develop a pericornitis while sitting on a LP/OP.

Glad it went quick and smooth for you Jerry. Don't be stubborn and follow the Post op instructions.
