Hey all, looking into different barrel options for a Valkyrie build. I noticed that Wilson combat has 1:6.5 twist barrels of various configurations. It seems a lot of what I read on the internet (which has to be true) is that to shoot heavier bullets 88-90 grain a 1:6.5 twist might be better, but not a lot of companies offering that twist. At least that is available, or that I can afford.

Has anyone had experience with this barrel, or any other thoughts?

you are correct in going with the 1:6.5 twist. I have no direct experience with WC barrels but I've heard good things.

I personally went with a Bison Armory 1:6.5 barrel. I don't have more than a box of ammo down it yet but it shoots well so far.

rainier says the longer (so more FPS) barrels (ie 24") work good with a 7.5 twist. i have their ultramatch 24" 7.5t and it is sub moa (3 shots, i know...) out to 400, the furthest i measured, and at its first prs gas gun match i got a lot of first shot hits out to 800yds, the longest targets at the match.

I can personally second this observation. Have a 26" Rainier UM Gen 2 in 7.5T. No issues stabilizing 88ELD or 90 SMK at 2700+fps. I shoot at ~700-~1000 from above sea level at 60-90deg F. Won't know if this holds true at colder temps until this winter.

That said, if you're planning a shorter barrel (18-22") might be beneficial to move to at least 7T or the 6.5T. You may not be able to get MV needed to get RPM up for heavy long bullets.

4 for 7 from standing barricade at 825yds during practice session (16x20 silhouette and I don't get to practice barricade work very much) and great consistency prone at 1057yds in substantial wind at DA of 3200-3400:

Still waiting on a couple extra parts, but I'll let you know how it shoots. Got the Cerakote complete, turned out pretty sweet as well I think.

If I could like that more than once, I would. SWEEET cerakote work man! Where did you have it done? That's what I envisioned for mine but wasn't planning to tear apart until winter. Great choice!

Thanks appreciate it, I did it myself.

I have FFL and home shop, do Cerakote work as well.

Hope to have it complete with range report soon!

Can't speak of the 224V barrel from WC but the 16" fluted 68SPC barrel I have them has been outstanding.
I don't know if they are still using them but the NP3 coated bolt and carrier assembly I ordered from them came with the LMT enhanced bolt and would be highly recommended for your build if you go with the WC barrel.
