• Watch Out for Scammers!

We've now added a color code for all accounts. Orange accounts are new members, Blue are full members, and Green are Supporters. If you get a message about a sale from an orange account, make sure you pay attention before sending any money!

WTB a helping hand from a mod

I had to login to my account this morning and I never logged out yesterday. Not sure if it was a two step auth thing after turning it on or something else. No SH emails until I logged back in to get on. Although it didn't send me a text, I had to do email.

Yesterday was quite the wakeup call. I've turned two step on.

Yes, the auto log out was due to the two-factor authentication. I turned mine on yesterday as well and got logged out and had to authenticate. Glad it’s working as designed.

Ya it was like 8am yesterday morning. He got 500 through zelle and then i sent him 350 through paypal but for some reason he refunded it. And this happened twice. First he said was his brothers paypal account and like 10 minutes after i sent it the payment was refunded. And then he asked me to send it to a different account so i did. And then that got refunded also. I smelled a rat from the beginning but i kept looking at the positive feedback so i decided it was legit. And i knew the whole damn time it was not. Live and learn i guess. Id like to get ahold of that fucker i know that.

Heres some of the convo with the fuck bag

Zelle is linked to a bank account, so it might be possible to at least track down the mule that is getting the money for them if you wanted to pursue it.

There is a chance the scammer could still have access to your account.

I did a little test.
I changed the password on my account.
Closed the web browser and then opened it back again to a bookmarked link.
Was able to get right in even though the web browser didn't have the password.
Some kind of saved token cookie or such.

That’s what I’m afraid of. I changed my stuff and it made me relief in yesterday but after I added two factor it didn’t make me again. So maybe somehow it only does sometimes?

In any case, it seems everything was yesterday morning only even though I heard about it today. I’m just keeping an eye on it.

Are you guys using email two factor, or an app like authy?

I just set up authy, and it asked me to two factor in again after closing the window - although it does have an option to remember this device for 30 days.

When I activated mine, I recall it saying that it will keep you logged in on that particular device for 30 days before requiring a re-authentication.

Assuming that 70's porn avatar is a real pic of you... Would have been cool if you had another to use with your 7981 login and for sure we'd know it was you instantly!

I can't believe some of you guys try to do business with people that have the same spelling, punctuation and vocabulary as the Nigerian prince that keeps asking for me to wire him some money.
As prevalent as scammers are these days I would think the thirdworldshithole-ese would be a dead giveaway.

Im the real @spife7980 and my account has been hacked. My email was changed from [email protected] to [email protected]

I know that because I found a hide message about it in my spam folder from 6:58 am

They have also changed my password so Im locked out.

I can see that "Im" online engaged in conversation presumably trying to scam people. So hopefully this casts the largest net to get it corrceted

So can a mod on here reach out and lets get this nipped in the bud?
Let us know if you track down the hacker and a thousand of us will go pay our respects.

Exactly. Not trying to be a dick, but how in the fuck did anyone get fooled after seeing his grammar???

^^^^^ This.
I noticed it right away in the screenshots.
Here's also my method of keeping passwords.

I have flash drive secured with really strong password - something like "1 crazy Fox jumps over 2 lazy Dogs" or "Vis Pacem Para Bellum 1954", and encrypted.
Only 1 text file on this drive - my passwords.

Was already feeling hesitant with the multiple zelle accounts, but straight up refusing to accept PayPal so I was covered was a dead giveaway.
And the fact that the default for those guys is to ask for $500, the max for most reloadable giftcards

Besides two factor verification, everyone should be using a password manager. I NEVER use the same password in more than one place. I don't know any of my passwords except the one to log into my password manager. They're all the maximum allowed number of characters, up to 25 for me but you can go bigger, combination of letters, numbers and special characters. I use OnePassword but there are quite a few. Mine has both OS X and iOS versions, not sure about Android or Windoze, and they are linked through an encrypted file stored in Dropbox so I can access the passwords on any phone or computer I've linked to my Dropbox account. Even then, I still need the password to get access.

Another good practice is to use those same long, individual strings, which are automatically and randomly created by OnePassword, to answer security questions on websites that require those. What's the name of your first pet? gp&F#0lnLP*w@vVpKL)L24sDS

this post convinced me to get w/ updating my web logins with 2FA, did it here easy enough

I'd add that if it does happen and you catch it, a way to possibly mitigate damage would be to have a buddy on here tank your feedback until it gets unfucked.

A few red flags in feedback would be more than enough to make me at least take a look.

This. Norton will also do it if you have that already.

Anyone have a good recommended solution for Android/Windows like this, one that wouldn't be a nightmare to manage on both platforms?

Where'd the guy go? Is the scope still for sale?

Just wondering. I have a $2000 Money Gram ready to send in one hand, and a Western Union money order in the other. I also have a wallet full of pre-paid gift cards if that is the preffered method of payment. I just need the residential address from the seller. I can send ASAP.
