Suppressors YHM 9mm cobra 3 lug adapter question

I have a YMH 9mm Cobra (not the new cobra m2). I purchased an H&K 3 lug adapter from YMH.net for the cobra (not cobra M2) a few months ago. My plans were to use this on a 9mm SBR AR with a 5" TROS barrel with the H&K lugs already milled into the barrel. Well my SBR stamp finally came in and got to put the adapter on the can and they sent me the adapter for the M2 which has a different O.D. than the Cobra M1. So I call YMH and they say they can't sell me the right adapter because of some ATF rulling. So now I'm SOL because I can't run this suppressor on the gun I bought it for. It's threaded 1/2x28 so I can't use it on my RRA 9mm AR either (wrong thread pitch) And I was really looking forward to the cool instant on/off that the 3 lug adapter allows.

ETA: YHM offered to refund the $$ for the adapter but I declined.

So does anyone have any suggestions on how to get a YHM Cobra m1 H&K 3 lug adapter?

If true thats a terrible business model. I was/am willing to go on back order. Heck I would even pay double because right now I can't use the $700 upper that I built strictly for this suppressor.

Re: YHM 9mm cobra 3 lug adapter question

This is an easy fix, all you need to do is send the can in and we will swap the piston device for a 3-Lug adapter. This is in accourdance with the ATF's ruling stating that the 3-Lug adapter is a suppressor part and shipping suppressor parts seperatly is illigal. As for the accusation of YHM BS'ing, you need to do more research before making accusations.

Interesting thing that you would say this. I thought the ATF was being heavy handed when I heard this, I wrote to my US Senators and Representatives. Got a letter back from each one that said exactly that. No ATF ruling exists....makes ya wonder what is going on. Not that I believe My Congress critters farther than I could throw em. Wish I'd kept the letters.

I do know that I called SWR asking about a different threaded adaptor for my Trident. I already have 2 different mounts, soon to be three. They said when I figured out what thread pitch I needed to give em a call and order it over the phone, they'll send it to me in the mail. I can't see why this would be different than the Cobra, and yeah I own one of those too.

Re: YHM 9mm cobra 3 lug adapter question

The difference between the 3-Lug adapters & old style pistons for the cobras and thread adapters & QD mounts for the Phantom cans is that the latter are "multi-purpose" making them acceptable as far as the ATF is concerned.

Re: YHM 9mm cobra 3 lug adapter question

So my Congressmen were lying to me? Because they told me that their offices had contacted the ATF and that the ATF said what you are saying isn't so. I don't believe for a second the the congressmen wouldn't lie to me if it was to their benefit. But all of the congressmen of ND are pretty pro 2nd amendment. And I see nothing in it for them to lie to me about it. That said I have nothing to gain or loose from this discussion. I'm happy with my Cobra, and I have the mount I need for a Glock. If I had to buy another as a suppressor part, and/or go thru the NFA hoopla plus pay another tax to get a different mount for it, I would just buy a different brand that dosn't require this. And there are plenty available.

As far as your congressman, I have no idea. This is the info the ATF has given us. As for your second point, that is exactly why they changed the design, to avoid people taking their business else where.
