Was out the other night for some nvg shooting with my AR, went great. Cleaned the rifle next day and discovered an end cap strike on my qd yhm ti phantom (5.56 caliber). Nothing too major, but a small chunk of Ti missing. I've shot thousands of rounds through this can without issue so my best guess is a separated jacket from the cheap 55 grain Everglades ammo bullets I was shooting. There was a small strike on my muzzle break as well, but no apparent damage to internal baffles. Glad the strike wasn't serious enough to launch the can as I would have been out all night looking!

Called yhm to see if they'd inspect or possibly repair the can for me. I fully expected to pay for the work. The rep told me he'd get an RMA right out and that they'd take care of it all at no charge to me (outside of shipping). Even told me that if I had destroyed the can beyond repair they'd replace it AND buy my stamp.

I havent sent sent it back yet and will update the thread as this progresses. Just thought I'd pass along the info for anyone not aware. I had heard of other companies doing this for customers but hadn't heard a specific case with yhm. I've been happy with this can and imo have gone above and beyond for something that appears to be my fault, ultimately.

thanks, YHM!

Man, waiting for a new stamp would be terrible. I assumed they could throw your serial on a new one and destroy the old one since it's a direct replacement.

I think replacement like for heavily damaged cans as you described used to be commonplace, not so much anymore. I believe the damaged suppressor needs to be destroyed per ATF rules and a whole new unit is built. "Re-treading" an existing serial number is a no go, if my info serves correct.

Waiting on a stamp would be be a pain, but it would be less painful than another $1000 on top of said wait....

I just wanted to make sure yhm got the credit they are due for their outstanding CS. Not knocking other companies, but I never hear too much about yhm on forums in general. As a small business owner, I know what it's like for people to publicly recognize efforts to make consumers happy.

I've always had great experience with YHM as well. I don't hear too many reports about them either, but I think there is something to be said for that as well. Their products are well built and there really isn't much that can go wrong with them. No over engineered locking mechanisms, or funny business to screw up. I have a couple thousand rounds through my .30 Ti phantom and have zero issues with it or any of my mounts.

I've been more than happy with my YHM ti 308 QD. The locking system is extremely simple and robust, never once had it try to back off. The adapters are relatively cheap so I can easily swap it to other AR's, both 30 and 556 calibers. The POI shift between suppressed/unsuppressed, if present at all, was no more than 1" at 100 yds on any of my many AR's.
Their service was excellent when I sent them a post-ban barrel for threading, but this is the only actual service contact I've had with them directly. Far as I can tell their products are all over-built for durability and NOT over-engineered which IMO adds to the probability of failures. YMMV
