Couple of questions. How does the ranging work? Are measuring from the perforated line to the number left or right depending on target size? Is the number your hold or distance? Also am I right in assuming the 3r and 3l is your 3 mil right and left hold? Looks like a pretty cool reticle.

Hold the 12 or 18” target between lines. Where the outside edges of target just touch the inside lines of the funnel. Use the 12 or 18 scale for the target size and that’s the approximate range.

@gebhardt02 will have to chime in on 6” and 9”. But I think you do the same thing and use the center line.

6” = 12” side and 9” = 18” side for the scale

And the number should be your distance. Hold would require the scale to be caliber specific.

The 3L and 3R is the side of the target you are holding from the crosshair.

So, the 3R is on your left as you look at it, but the main crosshair is being held 3 mil to right of target. Which is the way most people call a correction “hold 3 right”

We get students all the time hold the wrong side of the reticle

In fact, during one such comedic session, I was on the opposite side of the firing line and saw Mike doing Patty Cakes with a student. They kept holding the wrong way in the wind, and we always have wind, so it's critical to get it right

That minor visual is actually a good thing to help demonstrate, Main Crosshair goes into the wind, so the wind from the left puts the target on the right side of the main crosshair

Most will probably never using the ranging reticle part, but it's a nice simple confirmation. Given time and opportunity, I would throw a target in there to confirm the distance even if using a laser, sort of a double-check.

That's correct. 12 and 18 span the entire width while 6 or 9 inch targets go from centerline to the appropriate side. Meant to be a fast and easy method to get a close enough range to place effective fire on target. The numbers are the range, NOT a hold value.
