Zeiss Victory PRF 8x26

As the title goes, this is the LRF that I am currently looking to purchase. What I would like to know is for those who own this model, what is the distance that you have been able to RELIABLY range? I know there are times that one can get a 1600 or 1800 reading, but what can one get consistently? What factors or conditions affect your readings?

I know there are tons of threads for this topic. I am not trying to beat a dead horse. Were it available to me ($$$$) I would quit researching and just purchase a Vectronix, but alas I am financialy embarassed and can't go that route.

I have ranged out to 1275 with mine in good conditions. Just like all other range finders it has difficulty working in bright sunlight and especially fog. I really like mine and for the price I paid I couldn't be happier.

Probably about 1250-1300 yds. in clear conditions.

I have to agree with the others, 1200 to 1300-yards for repeated/reliable readings. I have on occasion gotten over 1600-yards, but that was off of highly reflective targets like buildings with metal roof.

I traded my first one, then regretted doing that so I bought another.

The Zeiss I feel it's the best value for money in that price range, plus the support and customer service is outstanding. I can't remember why I did it, but I opened the battery compartment outside, and lost the cap in the snow. I called Zeiss to ask if I could buy one, explaining what I had done. They took one off a unit they had, and sent it to me for free.

The only thing I feel could be an improvement is the addition of a threaded socket on the bottom so it could be used on a tripod.

My only complaint about the Zeiss PRF is that the button can be inadvertently continuously depressed while it's stowed in it's case, even in a range bag. I've blown through a few CR2s (which aren't cheap) because of this. I wish the button was recessed more into the body. To get around this, I unscrew the battery cap a few turns until it won't function when I pack it away.

In the future I may glue a plastic washer-type ring around the button to form my own recession.
