How does it shoot. I've got a 20 inch ordered for a build that I just started , hope I choose a good barrel .I built this Wilson Combat AR 10 308 Super Sniper. View attachment 8266067View attachment 8266068View attachment 8266069View attachment 8266070View attachment 8266071
I would pay attention to your gas tube to gas key interface. At least in the past, Wilson places their rifle length gas port odd, halfway between Armalite AR-10 (15.5") and DPMS/AR-15 (15.125") length. They spec the longer gas tube, but some BCG gas keys will bottom out.Haven't had time to try it out yet. I've been doing Chemotherapy Treatments for 2yrs and a couple of months, everything functions as should. Feeds rnds. cycling by hand and seems to eject them pretty good, I'm still debating on what scope to put on it. As soon as I get some time I'll take it out and run some down it and check function of it.
I ordered the longer gas tube from Fulton armory, WC was out of stock, and ordered the tool craft bolt so I guess it's a toss-up if I've got the right one , wilson specs the longer tube for the supersniper 20 inch barrel , but it sounds like I might need a standard length, might as well order one as they aren't that much. That's what happened on the first Wilson Combat Gas Tube, they gave a part number for the one that went with the Wilson Gas Block I ordered. I installed it and put the bolt in and it wouldn't mate up to the Bbl. Lugs, I scratched my head for awhile trying to figure out then noticed that the gas tube was more than half way in the cut out. The 2nd pic shows the bolt not matting up to the lugs with the Wilson Gas tube.

The damage to that gas tube may be caused by vertical misalignment with the gas key. The offset of the gas tube required for a large frame is around 0.062" greater than a AR-15 when using mil-spec 0.750" low profile gas blocks. It may not seem like much of a difference, but can affect alignment. Almost all gas tubes are bent to the AR-15 spec, including those sold for AR-10/308. There are a number of exceptions to the above statement(s).That's what happened on the first Wilson Combat Gas Tube, they gave a part number for the one that went with the Wilson Gas Block I ordered. I installed it and put the bolt in and it wouldn't mate up to the Bbl. Lugs, I scratched my head for awhile trying to figure out then noticed that the gas tube was more than half way in the cut out. I guess it could be grease, but I thought that this pic looked chewed-up:I don't know what damage your referring to, that's a brand new one that got coated in oil from were I oiled the rails.

how do you like the Centurion Arms handguard?I have no experience with Mil surp 308. Anyone ever shot any of this stuff. Buddy gave me a bunch of this & I was hoping to use it for some practice in the AR 10. But this stuff has magnetic bullets?? Steel jacket maybe. Not sure I want to run this through my Proof barrel.

that's light by AR-15 standards! nice workI have heavy AR 10s so I decided to build a light weight one, but accurate if possible, in 308. This one is 6 lbs 3 oz no scope. And it does not have a pencil barrel but a heavier profile fluted 16" barrel, to keep rds on target. Carbon fiber hand guard, 1 oz titanium brake, Roam magnesium upper, titanium bolt carrier. To finish it off with a Leupold Mark 4 M3 3-10X mil dot with appropriate 30-06 180 gr elevation turrent to match trajectory and Warne 20 moa ultra light mount, for 1200 plus yds. Total weight, ready to hunt 7 and three quarters lbs. A delight to carry, feels like an AR 15. Already have some good high velocity loads, in the .5 to 1 moa 5 shot group range...will be testing other bullets, like the 169, & 177 SMK, & 168 gr eldm. The 168 gr Berger 2687 ave 11.4 S/D is very accurate shooting 5 shots half moa, the 150 gold dot 2813 ave 9.4 S/D 1 moa, as well as the 208 Eldm averaging 2442 fps 13.3 S/D fast for a 16" barrel 308. Got some fast velocities with 155 gr to 2900 fps ave but the accuracy was not there..lower or change powder for the 155 grainers, and recheck. Just another project to play with...

it is the Match Barrel. with 103 ELDX factory loads its right at 1.5 for 5 at 200y. I have some hand loaded 75g Max's & they shoot just a tic under 1.5, but in the 3450 fps range. I can't complain with either load for deer or predators.Nice. Match or "Ultra Match" barrel? And how does it shoot?
If you still have problems after you adjust the AGB, it might be best to start a new thread. Until then, check into your gas tube length and action system. My first full .308 build.

First time out it shot flawless and cycled great.
Recently took it to the range and had a bunch of FTF/failed cycles, don't think the bolt was going far enough back to pick up the next round - unfortunately i didn't bring the long Allen key to the range, going to go back again and run it wide open, see if that solves the issue. -
Edit: just was doing some digging on these forums and one issue I have is the charging handle runs into the cheek riser - apparently this happens if you use a Magpul PRS intended for a Ar15 with an AR10 platform.
Also read about an issue with the stock screw being too long (from a post from 2011, any idea if this issue was resolved?)
