SOLD WTS Manners T2A SA w/ EFR Elite Swamp $1250 shipped

Manners T2A SA w/ EFR, mini chassis, and Arca rail in Elite Swamp camo. $1250 shipped.

The Arca rail is made out of G10 and is cut w/ Arca lock pattern. It’s super quiet when used on a tripod or a bipod. Bedded the recoil lug for a Terminus Zeus. Would take 5 minutes to chip out/dremel out but the recoil lug on a Zeus is .300” so pretty much any other 700 clone will fit. Also relieved a small area off the mini chassis near the safety so that the safety on a trigger tech would work.

Thanks,

Chase

PVA Solus .223 Wylde Barreled Action (Barrel question)

So while I originally was ready to move with a Tikka, (thanks again to all who offered advice) I stumbled across this deal yesterday. I planned on dropping it into a KRG and finding a good scope. It's going to be a little over my budget but it will slowly come together. I read about the Osprey barrel on their website but does anyone know how big a difference there is between that and the OEM barrel? Specs on the tube are 24" and MTU profile. Also run a can on it. As always, I appreciate any insight from fellow goon squad members....😆

Female USCG officer got two divers chopped up, IMO willfully, 1980s.

Years ago when I was first working as a marine mechanic, I worked for a shop where the owners were close friends with a commercial diving business on the West Coast. The diving company was located in Sausalito, CA, which is just across the water from San Francisco.

The dive business was on a job in San Fran, cleaning the hull of a large boat or small ship. Two guys were underwater, and the owner of the company was topside keeping an eye things. An aggressive female from the USCG came aboard and told the crew to put the engines in forward. However there were signs posted all over the helm to not put the engines in gear, as there were divers working underwater. The engines may have been running to keep them warmed up.

Remember when you were young, and a supervisor or authority figure could tell you to do something that did not sound right. However, being inexperienced, you complied?

Well the bitch told a crew member to put the controls in gear, he strongly protested, but eventually did what the authority figure told him to do. The owner of the dive business felt the boat move, and he sprinted back to the helm and yanked the levers to neutral. Next he ran to the stern, and the water was full of blood. Both divers were sucked into the propellers, and cut to pieces. The divers were both friends and coworkers of his.

The USCG quickly sent attorneys to the spouses of the divers, apologized profusely I expect, and told them if the sign this agreement to keep their mouth shut, they would be given xx amount of money. The .gov was quick, to keep the story out of the press. Now I do not know if the USCG officer was a dyke or not, but judging by her actions she was a full on man hater. She knew that the divers would be killed, but this was her chance to get away with murder.

This would of been before 1990 when I worked for the yacht repair business. In current times they would most likely not be able to sweep the deaths under the rug. But back then, they did.

If someone wants a whole rifle they get priority, I’d ship it free. If people want disassembled parts then I can do that, just give me a week to get back to the vice at the ranch to take it apart. If they want an action, barrel, stock for a complete rifle I would throw the trigger in for free.

Assume that there is a bit of scuffing on the turrets, I’ve tried to show it. I’ve also pointed out lil nicks that aren’t on the turrets where is commonly expected.

Athlon Midas btr, 4.5-27x50 sfp aplr1 reticle 30mm tube, has some marks where the finish is a bit glossed I’ve tried to point out and a couple little dings. $250225

Curious what you folks do in competitions - when you have your dope, do you adjust your turrets for each target or do you prefer to use holdovers?

I didn't pay attention at the last competition to what my group did - I did holdovers as it seemed quicker and I have a reticle that will account for it.

Unless I was really familiar with my optic and adjusting, I think holdovers would be easier/quicker than worrying about going a click or 3 too far. I was surprised just how quickly those two minutes go by when you're looking for the targets. :D

Almost no neck tension on new brass?

Ran into something odd a few days ago with some new Alpha 6.5cm brass. Grabbed some virgin cases to start loading for a new gun, and wasn't happy with the .262 expander ball in my Forster sizing die; I could feel not a whole lot of resistance (there was some, but not what I was wanting) when seating the bullets in my inline die/arbor press combination. (I'm using the K&M press that has a short arm).
So I took the expander stem out of the die, chucked it up in my drill and polished on it a little to get it to .260 for a little more neck tension. Seated a few more rounds and NOTHING. ZERO difference in seating feel. How??
I was soo shocked I sized a case with NO expander ball in it, and seated a bullet in it after doing that and there was same neck tension, which is very little. I am so confused I have no idea what is going on. Could this be because the cases are brand new? Could it be bad brass? I'm guessing a lot of springback? Why dont my already loaded rounds from 2 weeks ago have this? When I try to pull a bullet out of my previously loaded cases it's really hard, and now all of a sudden they pull out really easy. I measured the od of these new bullets and they're the same as the old ones I loaded a while ago. Why I'm so confused is because this is a new anomaly for me. I've been loading rounds like this for a year now, and when I move to progressively smaller expander balls the amount of force needed to seat the bullets goes up. And now, all of a sudden out of nowhere, nothing I do changes the super light neck tension I have now. Nothing I do changes the super easy seating force I now have when seating... I have four Forster dies in 6.5 creedmoor and theyre all the same.
Have any of you experienced this?

Same price, which choice: WOA 16” SPR vs Criterion Hybrid

I’m in the process of accurizing one of my setups for precision work. I saw Brownells has two that stood out.

Criterion Hybrid 16” 223 Wylde for $236.99

White Oak Armament 16” SPR 223 Wylde for $237.99 with BF code

For context this would be something I’d like to be sub-MOA if possible. I’d be putting a can and WML on this as well so it wouldn’t purely be a bench/prone gun.

I see pretty high praise for the WOA 416R SPR option but wanted to do my due diligence before I rule out the Criterion Hybrid. I know it’s Chrome Lined, so I didn’t know if I’d end up with a 1.3-1.5 MOA limit on something like that.

Rifle Scopes Need advice on Black Friday Deals

I am thinking about picking up a scope this black friday, and haven't really researched them as much as I would like, so I find myself in need of advice. My primary use(s) will be hunting at short range (under 100 yards), but I would also like to be able to practice for long distance shooting (out to about 1000 yards). It will be going on a 6.5 Creedmoor but I haven't settled on the exact rifle yet.

The following deals looked good and I am thinking now might be a good time to buy (with the sale and the potential of tariffs possibly driving up prices on some of the cheaper china manufactured scopes).

I am looking at the Arken EP 5 G2 7-35x56 (around 550), Arken EP-5 5-25x56 (does the fact that its not G2 matter) (around 420), and Vortex Optics Viper PST Gen 2 5-25x50(around 650).

Any considerations that I as a relative newbie in this field might miss when comparing them (they are all first focal plane scopes)?
Are the deals good enough to be worth jumping on or am I overvaluing them?
Anything else in that basic price range you would recommend instead?
Which would you pick and why?

Thanks in advance for any help.

What’s in a screen name

Simple question, cause I see so many and wonder what the story is. What does your screen name mean.

Mine is simple, it is my nickname throughout a lot of my life. My last name is Cogburn, and I grew up in Arkansas really close to Ft. Smith and Judge Parker’s court. The 98 is the year I joined Uncle Sugars chain gang

Firearms Remington M24/40XB, 10x Leupold package

I picked this rifle up on trade from another member and I absolutely love it. The gun ADD kicked in, though. I put just over a box through it, and it appears to have been shot very little prior to me shooting it (the paint around the crown was barely chipped). It shoots 175gr FGMM extremely well and that is all I have tried in it so far.

I'm sure some other members who are more familiar with these rifles can chime in about their history, but I gathered that it is the predecessor to the M24 SWS that had the adjustable stock. I called it the A1 just because it was the most I could find with a little Google searching, but I could be wrong. This has the more rare "B" suffix serial number and the barrel is marked 7.62x51 for the chambering. The trigger is absolutely amazing in here as well.

The rifle is topped with a Leupold Ultra 10X-M1A with the Premier Reticle crosshairs. It also includes the original factory paperwork for this rifle which is pretty cool. This would be an awesome gun for someone who is into collecting things more than I am.

$4,500 shipped for the package. I would trade it toward an AI AX (2014 style), AI AXMC, or AI AXSR. For the long actions I would prefer 300NM or 338NM but I can always swap barrels. Other than that I am pretty set on trades but always open to high end optics in FFP and Mil/Mil.
