A question of "cash"?

Doubling down on my previous post tonight about "manly" things-

I'm finishing up on applying leather conditioner to my "fine leather goods" & one of which is my wallet in which I took everything out off prior to applying the leather conditioner... A handful of credit cards, insurance cards, and membership cards to places like the AL & VFW, my total amount of actual cash was a whopping $6. That's one $5 & $1 bill & that's all I had.

This is a bit "wild" to me because 20 years ago I would have felt absolutely naked if I had anything less than $200 cash in my wallet. $200 now is worth significantly less than it was 20 years ago and $6 wasn't much money even then either. But I really don't use cash these days...

Anywho- I'll have to hit the ATM or bank and replenish my cash reserves but the question posed is whether anyone else is surprised with how little cash they carry/use regularly as compared to what they used to.

Purple hair? Face tats! Single mom preps her kid to shoot up Jr. High school

Bullet (dodged) as police arrest this piece of shit who was prepping her 13 year old school-shooter-worshipping retard to take out a middle school.

When do we start re opening the asylums.

Let’s see… the kid probably gets counseling and his record expunged in less than 5 years.

Wanna bet he is in jail or dead before he is 25? How many does he kill before then?

Bet “mom” gets off as well. “It was all just fantasy and designed to help him deal with his urges. I never would have let him do it.”

Just watch the lawyers go all bleeding heart on how she is just a challenged single mom…. We have to let her off.

Wonder what the parents of the other kids in the Texas middle school think? The peers who “should” make up 100 percent of her jury. But won’t, because jury will be transgender furry Marxists who identify as social workers.

This shit just had to stop.

Black wavy marks on brass

Hey all,

This is a first for me. Anyone have any clue how these marks got here? The marks are on the cases after having spent an afternoon dry tumbling in rice. I suppose it's possible they were there prior to going into the tumbler. However, I cannot recall me making that observation before. This is on factory ammo 6.5 grendel.

I also have other cases there from reloads that are tumbling in the same rice simultaneously. These other cases are 6.5 creedmoor and do not show any signs like that.

Any clues?

UNCOMMANDED STRIKER PISTOL DISCHARGES

In the wake of the SIG P320 drama, there's been a whole bunch of these types of videos online.

Way too many.

Looking at what he's doing...

1754193433550.png

...loading the trigger on this particular Glock with a fastener does the following:

1754193366038.png

1. Negates the Trigger Safety (dingus)
2. Negates the Firing Pin Block
3. Negates the Drop Safety
a. Negates the "Soft Primer Strike Safety" by Loading or Tensing the Striker
b. Negates proper "Sear Engagement"

What is the point of this maneuver, though?

In a loaded / cocked Glock with the finger off the trigger, safeties 1. through 3b. are doing their thing.

When "riding the reset," you negate 1. and 2., but safeties 3a. and 3b. perform their functions (well, if you’re really good - maybe only 3b.).

When tensing the trigger with that fastener, you're leaving the sear 3b. hanging by the skin of its teeth, something hard to do with your finger in practice because of that final “10% hump” (see subsequent posts below).

What exactly are these Glock videos trying to prove?

300 Rum Build

The action is a Savage 110
The stock is a Bell and Carlson
I added AICS bottom metal and Mag
The barrel is a FAXON M24 Contour Blank 27" 1:10 Twist

First I zeroed the barrel in the lathe and cut the receiver threads, then chambered carefully. I then cut the muzzle for a brake 5/8 24. I had to seriously inlet the stock to free float this barrel.

Out at the range today, the rifle is shooting the federal fusion tipped 180gr over 91.5gr of N570 into a single hole, 7 shot group all can covered with a dime. Seems this one is good to go now. Very low recoil, like shooting a 22 250.

My data shows 91.5gr (Max safe published load) of N570 is around 64k pressure but I see NO SIGNS, running a 180gr pill at 3300fps should be serious medicine for the dear this year :)

An unapologetic thread about "manly" things...

To start this thread off, I'd like to begin this discussion with the topic of watches since that's what's on my mind.

Watches seem to be a "manly" thing and for reasons I'm not sure why. I've been digging into/researching this topic and the best explanation I'm finding is that men use watches as one of the few "approved" jewelry accessories that they can wear. Perhaps there's some merit to this but I'm not sure if this summation conveys why I'm personally interested in watches.

Just speaking for myself- I personally find it absolutely fascinating that we can wear such a complicated machine on our wrist which requires literally hundreds of small parts to work in unison to perform a function requiring absolve precision & accuracy. Precision & accuracy.. if there ever was a unifying concept to state with the participants here...

Personally- I've always held a fascination with watches. Not so much from a status symbol perspective but more so from a perspective that appreciates the precision of such a small device.

A few decades ago my first "real" watch was a Luminox Navy Seal model that looked something like this...

1754190049821.png

Good lord did I love this watch. It was my first "expensive" watch which took me months to save up for while working retail jobs (yes plural) and when my finances aligned I thought this was amongst the most amazing purchases I had made at that point in my young life. It was far from a luxury watch by other standards but it was amazing to me & what it represented for my income at that stage of my life.

It was an amazing watch too- quartz movement of course but tritium dials on the hands and that made it "special" to me then. I forget how many times I had to replace the batteries & straps because each part just wore out (I lived in that watch for years) but remember when it finally "died" on me and a part of me died with it. I got well over a decade with that watch, it spanned my entire military "career" but I rode it hard and ran it into the ground and it finally had enough. Certainly a sad day for me.

I limped through college with cheap (think Kmart Timex type of watches) but always missed having a "good" watch. Of all people, my little brother gave me one of the best Christmas gifts I'd ever received in my adult life... A Citizen promaster with eco drive aka- solar powered and I was once again smitten with a watch (not even that terribly expensive either). That looked/(s) like this...

1754190728547.png

Talk about a cool watch- the luminosity wasn't tritium but rather a high quality luminescent painting that doesn't have a "half-life". The watch was built "tough" and the strap contained kevlar if I remember right... I still have & love that watch. I'm still bitter that I don't have the exact same watch in the Black configuration.

Moving on- my tastes & budgets for watches has expanded & grown but nothing too extravagant either.

1754191017813.png

I picked up the above Timex for something like $30 6 years ago. I bought it as a "beater"/"throwaway" but god damn- that watch rocks and I'm still trying to keep life into it. The battery is presently dead as a doornail but I've got a pack of 'em coming to see if we can't breath some life into this "old" girl.

I'm getting long winded so to wrap things up... my latest acquisition is a relatively inexpensive but classic watch.. the Seiko "turtle" which is looks like the below & is an otherwise inexpensive option for an automatic movement driven watch.

1754191400461.png

I'm rambling now but to sum things up- there are some things "we" all like that are just inherently "manly". Watches have to be amongst that category. Not even as a flex/opportunity to drop 1,000's of $ on either.

Just on the discussion of "man things" there's certain products that just seem to 'strike that masculine chord' & amplifies one's testosterone while similetanously receiving olympic eye rolls from spouses and lesser lady friends.

GEISSELE MRGG 6.5 CREED WRITE UP AND REVIEW

I knew when I first heard some of the bold claims about the Geissele mrgg rifle that I was going to want one to try myself. When they started showing up at Euro and a few other places I went ahead and put an order in. Initial impressions were positive. Fit and finish is unreal. I personally think it’s a super sexy rifle.
IMG_3488.jpeg

IMG_3489.jpeg

Rifle ships in a nice pelican case with gun lock, manual, and a sweet beanie. Which brings up my first complaint. Give me a freaking magazine with my 6k rifle geissele. Yes I have plenty but it should be standard. Yes I understand ban states etc but literally every other company makes it work. Let’s start back to front.

IMG_3468.jpeg

STOCK-Ships with a Magpul prs lite. I honestly thought I would change this out. I like a short lop on my rifles but after shooting with it I believe I’ll keep it. No complaints.

IMG_3470.jpeg
IMG_3472.jpeg

PISTOL GRIP-I like the grip they use on their rifles and it will stay on my rifle. If anything I wish it was a hair more vertical. It fits the hand nice though.

TRIGGER- Comes with a geissele ssa-e trigger which is my favorite offering from geissele. No complaints.

RECEIVERS/CONTROLS- The receivers are machined beautifully. Like work of art beautiful. One complaint I have, and this is carried over with the gfr. They’re to tight. I like a tight upper/lower fit with minimal wobble. What I don’t like is having to use a plastic punch to pop the pins out to field strip. There is a spring loaded plunger in the lower that keeps fitment tight. Maybe a little less powerful spring would split the difference?

IMG_3475.jpeg

The left side ambi controls are great. I have zero complaints there. The right side is growing on me. The right side bolt release is pretty stiff but has seemed to wear in a little and I can now depress it with my index finger. I do on the other hand struggle to reach the dust cover which actuates the catch on the right side without breaking my grip substantially. With that said I have the hands of an 8 year old girl.

IMG_3471.jpeg
IMG_3474.jpeg

HANDGAURD- I love the handgaurd. Super solid and has a tab at the 12:00 that interlocks it to the receiver. Full arca rail with mlok slots on the bottom. Two steel qd cups that are positioned closer to the receiver and an included geissele mlok qd cups.

IMG_3481.jpeg
IMG_3480.jpeg

IMG_3486.jpeg

IMG_3487.jpeg

BCG- The bcg has nice machining and a slick finish. I’m a fan of the nano coating as it cleans up great and has a natural lubricity feeling to it. Bolt has dual ejectors and gas key has good staking. It appears the carrier has some sort of plug/weight? In the rear. Not sure what this is maybe someone will chime in with the answer on that.

IMG_3482.jpeg

CHARGING HANDLE- Comes with a nice Geissele charging handle. No complaints.

IMG_3476.jpeg

BUFFER/SPRING- The Mrgg uses geisseles super 42 braided spring and a h2 buffer.
IMG_3484.jpeg

IMG_3485.jpeg
IMG_3483.jpeg

Geissele advertises the barrel as “user changeable” (isn’t that every ar?) . Here’s the barrel nut pictured. The handguard screws are captured which is nice.

IMG_3478.jpeg
IMG_3477.jpeg

I struggled to get pics of this but the Mrgg has two sets of feed ramps. One in the normal spot that interfaces with the receiver and another set before the chamber. I assume this helps with bullets not getting deformed.

Now for the accuracy portion. All groups were shot from a bench. A bipod and rear bags were used for all shots. Upon getting the rifle I fully cleaned the bore and shot 10 rounds to zero and season the bore. A Schmidt 5-20 ultrashort was used in a badger comm mount. I want to also mention I tend to shoot much better with a suppresor. All these groups were shot with the hux brake.(haven’t decided if I want to order a hux flow or not)

Group 2 the 5th shot was the flyer. Unfortunately it still counts but I will say that shot didn’t feel good. I still included what the group would have measured as a note in the target. 😥

Hornady 147 grn eld match

It definitely seemed to like the 140s better. I was also a little fatigued trying to make y’all proud and the rifle was hotter. I noted two groups that I didn’t wait as long to shoot on between 5 rounds. Being a gas gun I wanted to see how it did a little warm.

I REALLY think this rifle has potential. Keep in mind this a chf chrome lined barrel! Geissele has their barrel making down. So far I LOVE THIS GUN. Will definitely pick up a 16 inch and 14.5 when they drop. I plan on shooting more when I get a suppresor mounted up. Will get some more factory match ammo options and post up results. I experienced no malfunctions as one would expect. It has a really nice recoil impulse that seems “slower”. I’d encourage anyone who has one to post your findings and results! If anyone has questions for wants info on something specific just ask!

Disclaimer !!!- I typed this out on my phone and I’m not the most literate person. Most likely spelling mistakes and run on sentences throughout.

MRAD vs Custom Build

I’m looking at purchasing a Barrett MRAD in 300 Norma Mag and 6.5 Creedmoor versus building a custom rifle selecting quick change action like a Terminus Zeus, Bartlein barrel, MPA chassis and trigger of choice.

Barrett, AI and others with multi-caliber rifles allow shooting calibers from short action (6.5 Creedmoor) to long action calibers (300 Norma Mag and others). I’m not sure if quick change actions from Terminus and others offer the ability to shoot both short and long actions. If not, this is a benefit to the Barrett and AI variants.

Precision. Is there a precision advantage to the custom builds (excluding custom cut chambers) over multi-caliber rifles from Barrett, AI and others? While I have several custom bolt guns, several with custom non-SAAMI spec chambers for specific bullets and optimized freebores, these rifles require the action to be removed from the stock, locked in a gun vise with barrel wrenches to remove the barrel. Also, they don’t come with adjustable bolt faces to accommodate short vs long action cartridges that I’m aware of.

I do handload and plan to work up loads for the calibers I purchase.

My question is how much precision if any should I anticipate losing with a multi-caliber rifle like an MRAD over a custom bolt gun using premium components and barrels from Bartlein. Most reviews of the MRAD and AI I’ve seen were done with factory cartridges and performance was said to be sub-moa. I’m really hoping to consistently be under .5 MOA with handloads which I’m able to achieve with my custom builds in 6mm variants using Impact Actions, Bartlein barrels, Foundation stocks, Spuhr mounts and Nightforce ATACR optics as a general description. Some with custom chambers for the Berger 105 grain Hybrid Target on a good day are in the .25 MOA range.

Has anyone been able to achieve consistent sub .5 MOA with any load, factor or handload with multi-caliber rifles from MRAD or AI? I’m buying the MRAD because I don’t own one and I just want one and hoping they can deliver better precision that sub-MOA which to me means just under one-inch groups. The ruggedness of the MRAD is a cool feature I’m likely not to need since I’m not an operator in a war zone, but cool, nonetheless.

If you were to build a custom multi-caliber rifle, what action would you use and why?

Firearms MK12 Mod 0 (ish) in 6 ARC

Selling my 6 arc build to fund another bolt gun. This thing is a hammer for a semi auto. I love the look and feel of a mod 0, and it hits well out to 1k with this round as opposed to a 5.56. I have about 250 rounds down the barrel.

Build specs:
Upper
-PRI build kit (handguard, flip up rear, flip up front gas block, sawn rail, charging handle)
-Shaw 18" barrel
-Grey Ghost Precision upper
-CMC BCG with anti tilt

Lower
-KAC A2 stock
- Larue MBT 2 stage
- anderson receiver

**I'm willing to ship the whole package to you without the stripped receiver.

The first group 5 shot group is with factory 108 ELD ammo, and the second 10 shot group is with my handloads with 105 bthps.

Asking $1200 shipped to FFL for complete rifle, 125 pieces of hornady brass, and 2 mags. Willing to split up and ship without lower. Optic not included.

Trades:
Aero Solus
Origin
R700 stocks
6 Dasher BA
Prefit barrels for the actions above

Anyone ever buy a house under short sale?

Looking to see if anyone has any experience in this. Potentially new house for me and the family in desirable location. Kids would have a lot of school friends very close by (unlike our current home).

Current house is 4100 sq feet as is new one. Lateral move. Difference is I can pull about 550-600k in equity out of this to make it affordable.

My question is how low is too low of an offer? I know the lender has final say so. House appears to need exterior cosmetic love, minor cosmetic upgrades plus all bathrooms renovated in most recent pics we can find from 2020.

Owner borrowed 665 for the house (public record). Hard to fathom he’s into it for more than it’s worth on regular market.

Any insight is greatly appreciated

Anschutz 1727F AI AT-X

I finally broke down and picked up one of these. So far, it's shooting well and I'm not regretting it...I'm not retiring any of my other rimfires, but I am happy with the way it's performing.

I do need to add a few items to the chassis to help when shooting comps.

For anyone who has one, are you using a thumb shelf? If so, which one?

Also, I've debated picking up the AI Bridge, but I would love some firsthand experience from anyone using one.

The last item I am trying to decide on is a rear bag rider. Is there a preferred model, or should one be used that is made for any other AI?

Thanks in advance!
