Glass for .22 Squirrels up to 50 Yards?

Based on a recent thread, I am thinking I may give up on giving up on rimfire. Accurate rimfire, I mean. I'm one rationalization away from buying a 16" Tikka T1x. It's all over the 6x5 thread, and it's short and threaded, so I can put a can on it.

The purpose is to punish squirrels, mainly, although I do have coons here. My dream is to have a <2-MOA hunting .22 up to 50 yards for humane kills. Ordinarily I would not want a lot of magnification in a hunting scope or a .22 scope, but squirrels are tiny, and I would like to know exactly where my POA is on the rodent. I think going as big as 15x on the top end would not be crazy. Maybe even a low-end Athlon up to 24x.

I suppose it is conceivable I might try whacking a possum or some other reasonably large animal up to 150, but probably not. I'm sure I would eventually do prone target shooting at 100.

Is there any glass I should look into for this purpose, or should I forget overthinking and just pick up any decent MRAD scope somewhere in the 15x range?

Three kids shot in houston.

For trying to rob a guy at gunpoint. To his credit, the victim got three of them. They played an adult game and paid and adult price. Hopefully they don't go after the guy for defending himself. He probably feels bad enough as it is.

The Cartridge Conundrum

New Year approaching, new shooters asking question about "getting into PRS"

So I see these questions all the time, and in the beginning they are always gear questions, what to buy. This time however it was a cartridge questions, which caliber, cartridge etc to start out with ?

The answers are crazy and I feel most people have fallen into a confirmation bias trap. If everything has been a variation of monkey see, monkey do, and the masses just repeating the same thing over and over again, how do you actually answer this questions. Let me explain deeper... with some examples of what I mean.

Everyone reads, 6mm, so you want some form of 6mm. And the Mainstream will say, 6 Dasher, 6BR* and so on, but in this case the question was about 6mm ARC and the answer was a resounding NO... the mainstream shoots, 6Dasher, 6GT, 6BR, 6XC, nobody has been successful with the ARC so don't do it.... Really, a 6mm pushing the same bullet is a no go ...

Take a 243 loaded with a 109, a 6XC loaded with a 109, a 6CM loaded with a 109, who win.... everything else is the same.

The small frame AR cartridges are designed to work in a short barreled rifle. So they are working to push efficiency, it would make sense that a bolt gun being the most efficient platform that it would work better... the Valkyrie while dead, is a good example, at 2750fps it's shit, at 3025fps it's awesome, now compare that number to a 22GT and a 22CM, if I can easily move the Valkyrie from 2750 to 2950 without extra effort, I can save a bunch of time and energy and resources.

Consider the brass chasers, why do they chase the brass, hard to find, hard to work it, don't want to lose one. Think about that, they are coveting brass... when brass the expendable part of the equation has that much value you missed the objective.

The Light is Right argument was correct, we have show with the 100gr 6.5CM it's results can pass the 156gr, which is a better bullet on paper, this equation can be made cheaper and easier especially with hand loading

What happens if you take the 100gr 6.5CM and instead of it going 3200fps like it currently does, you downloaded it to 2950, 3000fps, vs a 1, O Something in a 6mm. Samething, if the 105 is going 2850, is that really worse than the 109 going 2850 ? If so, what happens if the 105 goes to 2875 ?

None of the current cartridges started out smooth, they all went through trial and errors, mainly speed, but we have gone weight too, but speed is our biggest manipulator, so that is easy.

I think moving forward a new shooter with a 6ARC can blend in nicely

SOLD New Seekins SP-10M (military issue version) 22" 6.5 Creedmoor FDE

Selling my new in box 22" Seekins SP10M in 6.5 Creedmoor.

$4,500 Shipped

The difference between the SP10M and regular SP10 is:

The SP10M, has extensive testing performed all the way down to the parts selection. We handpick the components that will eventually all come together to complete that particular rifle. The components are measured before and after coating processes to even reconfirm the fitment and finish. The SP10M is currently being fielded for the US SOCOM Operations Tier 1 and Tier 2 units. We have tested both military issued ammunition and high-quality factory match ammo. The rifle is tested for accuracy before it leaves with high quality ammunition, each rifle receives a 60-round break in at the bare minimum. The rifle does not leave our facility unless it shoots half inch if not better!

Help complete setup

Hello, hope you all had a great Christmas with your loved ones. Recently, I acquired a Tikka Tac A1 + Zeiss LRP S5 from PX. Decided to go with ARC M-Brace rings as per @Baron23 's advice. Not going to compete but will train on private property (1100 yards max range). Only shot long range a handful of times. No idea on what accessories I'll need to complete this setup that would help me improve.

All I can think of right now, is a bipod/tripod. Need some recommendations and don't really have an ideal budget because I don't know much about this stuff. Also, what other stuff do I need to help me study my performance and improve every time I hit the range?

Thanks in advance. Have a great day!

Rounds not chambering

Using 6 Dasher in Zermatt Origin

After 3x firing, I verified that the brass won't chamber in so I bumped the shoulder.

After bumping the shoulder and without seating a projectile, I verified that the brass was chambering without too much (or any) resistance on the bolt. So, I proceeded to load the rounds (primer, charge and seat).
Now that a projectile has been seated, I took the firing pin out to verify, and it won't chamber. I also verified that none of the rounds that I loaded can be chambered, which without the projectile they were. The bolt simply wouldn't close, even with significant pressure.

First thing I thought, the projectile is seated too long. I compared the case to a dummy round I keep on the bench, it's slightly less than the dummy round's datum and cartridge base length, which chambers with just a hint of pressure.

Any idea what's wrong that I am doing and how do I fix this?

Edit:
Took a fresh round (unseated) that chambers with 0 pressure on bolt. Charged it and seated. It does chamber in but there is a little resistance. Also, there's some stuff mark on the projectile.

Compact Gun Storage

My oldest son is moving into an apartment complex in Fort Collins. I’m looking for ideas for a compact upright gun storage cabinet.

I’m afraid with him having to transport firearms between his vehicle & an apartment on the 3rd floor it might attract unwanted attention, regardless of if he just carries one or carries it in a case.

He’ll take a few long guns & a few handguns along with a couple silencers. I understand it won’t be secure like Fort Knox but something that’ll help keep them out of sight & deter theft.
