The SIG Sauer P320 drama continues

Provincial RCMP said they saw the video of the Sept. 4th incident, which happened near the Provincial Correctional Centre in Milton Station as the on-duty officer was getting out of his police vehicle.
"There was absolutely nothing that the officer did that would appear to induce the firearm to go off," media relations officer Cpl. Gavin Moore said on Sept. 5.

New Rifle Inbound: Barrett MRAD

After a year saving up, I’ve got a new rifle on the way: Barrett MRAD in 6.5 Creedmoor. This is gonna be my first nice precision rifle (I used to have a RPR) . I need to buy glass for it and cool guy YouTubers are convincing me to get a scope in Mils vs. the MOA I’m used to (I understand there will be a learning curve) I’m considering a Night Force 7-35X ATACR w/ Tremor 3 reticle. Are there any other optics I should I be considering? I’m willing to buy once/ cry once. Currently I can shoot out to 850, with plans to find a farther range area. I plan to add the 300 Norma barrel down the line. Thanks guys.

Kudos to Desert Precision

I've been shooting a CZ 457 for a couple of years now. Shortly after getting it, I upgraded to. Lilja barrel and did several modifications to make the rifle suit me. Somewhere along the lines, I lost my OEM extractor.

As some of you may know, some OEM parts for the 457 are as rare as chicken teeth. Since losing the original, I've tried 3 other extractor sets, none of which worked and all of which needed modification to get some semblance of function.

As a final resort, I finally got my hands on a Talon Extractor from Desert Precision Gunworks. The extractor worked very well, but I still had problems with ejection, so I sent DSP an email.

I didn't just get an email response, but got a phone call from Kenny himself. He took the time to walk me through what to try and assured me that if it didnt work, we would get it working.

Given what customer support usually amounts to these days, I just felt compelled to say something after this experience with Desert Precision.

Banking 101

So I decided funds were getting low and needed more reloading supplies.

Sad realization that I had to get out of the house and do some banking.

I hit up several banks for an unsecured "loan" and every thing went well,
no harm no foul till I got home.

I decided to unpack and sort out the "loans" from their bags.
I'm not sure what's become of our society these days, the nerve of some people.
Some smart ass tossed a die pack in with my "loans", really not funny at all.

Does anyone know how to get this off skin or paper?
I'm missing out on some important sales till I get this sorted out.

SVD rifle

Just to share, my favorite rifle. No it's not a long range precision milling machine, but it's what I'm most comfortable with. I've struggled to find anywhere I can bring it to really stretch its legs unfortunately. Most of the ranges here don't allow this type of rifle or optic, deeming it not good enough for them.

The thermal I managed to find for it is no slouch either, easily one of the most interesting optics I could have found for it.

Credit card fraud in the industry

I own Misery Custom Rifles and I use my business credit card almost daily purchasing gun parts and what not. For years now my business card gets fraud charges and I have to go through the whole process of canceling, waiting on a new card to show up, then updating my card information for all my accounts. It happened again last night and now this is my 6th business card this year. My personal card as well as my wife's card don't ever have this problem. It makes me believe one of my vendors somehow has unsecure payment allowing my information to get out. I'm trying to narrow down where it can be coming from but I use too many vendors to even know where to begin. Has anyone had issues with any vendors in the firearms industry as far as their cards getting frauded? If you don't want to mention names publicly feel free to send me a PM. Thanks, Zack Tannen

In Another Shocking Revelation…

…Google is once again found guilty of misleading users into thinking they have any privacy while using their products.

In short, they are always selling you to the highest bidder, or anyone at all really.

From Malwarebytes Labs:

Google misled users about their privacy and now owes them $425m, says court

Posted: September 9, 2025 by Danny Bradbury
A court has ordered Google to pay $425m in a class action lawsuit after it was found to have misled users about their online privacy.
In July 2020, Google user Anibal Rodriguez filed a lawsuit against the search giant, arguing that it misled users with its “Web & App Activity” setting. The setting was supposed to stop Google collecting data about users’ activities online and in apps.
In reality, Google continued to collect data about how people were using their apps, even after they had switched off data collection in the Web & App Activity setting. Although it said that it was anonymizing that data.
The company collected this information via Firebase, a database that it uses to monitor activities across 1.5 million apps for analytics purposes which operates separately to the Web & App Activity setting. It’s reportedly in 97% of the top thousand Android apps, and 54% of leading iOS apps. Google harvested data from apps including Uber, Venmo, Shazam, the New York Times, Duolingo, and Instagram.
This arrangement created a dual data collection system. It misled 98 million Google users into thinking that their actions were completely private, argued the case, which became a class action suit.
Google’s lawyers protested that users were properly informed about how the company collects information and what it does with it. They pointed out that when confirming their choice, Google displays an “Are You Sure?” prompt that lets them check on what information Google collects, according to Bloomberg Law.
This clearly didn’t resonate with jurors, one of whom said after the verdict that Google needed to be clearer in how it communicated its data handling to its users. They’re generally “skimmers, not readers” he said.
Plaintiffs originally asked for $31bn in damages, but the amount awarded is far less, equating to around $4 per user.
Nevertheless, Google plans to appeal. “This decision misunderstands how our products work,” its spokesperson Jose Castaneda reportedly said. “Our privacy tools give people control over their data, and when they turn off personalization, we honor that choice.”

A history of questionable tactics

This isn’t the first time that Google has been found guilty of misleading users. In February 2023, it agreed to pay $392m in a settlement with 40 states for storing users’ locations when it told them it wouldn’t. It coughed up another $40m in a separate arrangement with Washington state later that year and also settled with Arizona for $85m.
In December 2023, the search giant also settled in a class action over alleged misleading language in its incognito mode service, which promised not to collect data about browsing activity but actually did. It deleted records costing it at least $5bn to settle that claim, but didn’t pay damages to users. However, in May this year it settled with Texas to pay $1.38bn to resolve the state’s own claims in the location and incognito mode affairs.
One interesting snippet is that Google has a habit of internally playing down its privacy claims because it knows that explaining exactly what it keeps might alarm users. In a ruling that denied a motion to dismiss the Web & App Activites-related case in January, district judge Richard Seeborg said:
“Internal Google communications also indicate that Google knew it was being ‘intentionally vague’ about the technical distinction between data collected within a Google account and that which is collected outside of it because the truth ‘could sound alarming to users.'”
Google executives had also privately discussed the need to soften up the privacy language in the company’s services to avoid alarming users of incognito mode. The message here to Joe and Jane Public is even clearer now than it was before; take privacy claims from big tech vendors with the skepticism they deserve, and adopt the ‘mom rule’ when dealing with them: never let them see anything you wouldn’t want them to know.

Timers - Kestrel or Shooters Global?

As a continuation of improvements for our PRS matches at Quantico, I'd like to invest in better timers (currently using the Comp Electronics). I'm considering the Kestrel and the Shooters Global SG2. I'd appreciate opinions from those who have used each. My concerns:

1. Start tone volume - I believe each has a loud signal for shooters. Interested in actual user experience.

2. Suppressed - The SG may have an edge here. Seeking opinions.

3. Integration with Practiscore - Both now integrate, but the need to remember to be in RO mode in the SG2 seems it could be an issue for operators.

Feel free to comment with experiences. I understand other timers may also do the same but we're limiting our purchase to the models mentioned. TIA.
