Excessive headspace from shoulder bump.

.308 winchester
Remington 700, shilen barrel
Don’t know chamber specs
Lapua brass

I was shooting with a buddy and every 25th round or so the case head would separate on the brass (3 total). I took a couple of pieces and measured them with a headspace comparator and of course I forgot to write the numbers down but he was bumping the shoulders back .015” on his reloads compared to the fired case. I told him that’s more than likely the cause and offered to help him set up his dies properly. The problem, he has a few hundred rounds loaded up like this and it’s lapua brass. Is there any safe way to go about blowing them back out? Ie shooting them out of an ar 10 and then annealing them or pulling all the components and sending them out to be hydro formed? What about the other pieces that have been shot but haven’t split yet, are those still safe to use pending the dies set up correctly? I didn’t have an answer for him so I’m posting here.

New York Gets What It Voted for – Migrants Account for 75% of Midtown Arrests, Report Says

Today’s feel-good story comes from Midtown Manhattan, where a reported 75 percent of arrests involve migrants.

New Yorkers voted for this madness by voting Democrat, specifically for Democrats who approve of New York’s sanctuary city and state status. These dummies also voted for a Biden-Harris administration that has imported millions and millions of unvetted illegal immigrants from the Third World.
In other words, there would be 75 percent fewer arrests and alleged crimes in Midtown Manhattan if Democrats like Kamala Harris enforced our border and deportation laws — or! — if New York’s idiot voters stopped voting for open-border Democrats. Instead, Democrats have decided to further destroy their own Democrat-run cities by importing the Third World.
“Across New York, recently arrived migrants are flooding the criminal justice system — at far higher rates than public officials have acknowledged,” reports the New York Post.
“Police sources shared with The Post a staggering estimate that as many as 75% of the people they’ve been arresting in Midtown Manhattan in recent months,” the report continues, “are migrants[.]”
And we are talking about crimes such as “assault, robbery and domestic violence.”
“In parts of Queens,” continues the Post, “the figure is more than 60%, sources there estimate.”

On any given day, Big Apple criminal court dockets are packed with asylum seekers who have run afoul of the law.
The problem is made much worse by sanctuary city laws that mean New York cops aren’t allowed to work with ICE on cases in which they believe suspects are in the country illegally. Additionally, the NYPD says it is barred from tracking the immigration status of offenders.

Those aspects of the situation make it that much harder for law enforcement to do their jobs, as can be imagined.
I love these stories.
These stories make my day.
Few things are more just than making leftists live with the consequences of their insane policies and even more insane agenda.
For decades, places like Manhattan were immune from their own pro-illegal alien posturing. It was the border states that faced the brunt of this madness. But now that some smart border state governors have started shipping these illegals and migrants to the deep blue cities who say they want an open border, justice is at long last being served.
You want the Third World, you got the Third World.
Now the Third World is destroying your cities and your city budgets and your school system and your health care system.
Everyone in America should get what they vote for. Especially Democrats.

Any of my fellow Hiders from near St. David, Arizona? (30 miles-ish SE of Tucson)

There is a guy selling a big generator transfer switch there on eBay but he won't ship it or even drop at a shipper. Need to find someone who can pick it up and drop it at a UPS store which can ship it to me.

Switch is about the size of a small suitcase. Not massive or heavy. Just bulky.

Glad to pay someone to pick up and get it to a shipper!

Cheers,

Sirhr

Lunar Landing

Because I have to prove that I earn my AIC creds enough to grant upgrades to complete assholes for others.

When I was 5, I remember my father, who had visitation rights with us (I was 3 when he and my mother divorced,) wake me up to see the moon landing and to hear Neil Armstrong say those words. "One small step for a man. One giant leap for Mankind."

And there were several more flights to the moon. Around 1970 ish, my mother was working for Phillips 66 in California and she was a key punch operator, which is how business computers were programmed back then. (After moving to Texas, her home state, in 1974, she would go one to learn COBOL and some Fortran and RPG and RPG II, specializing in RPG II while working for Schwepps Grocer Supply before his untimely death and that of her boyfriend, Lamar, in a plane crash.) Later, as an independent, she had clients such as First Bank - Houston and NBC. So, anyway, during the key punch days, the computer could take up half of a small building. The main frame at Philliops 66 took up a few floors.

And during this time, with computers about as complex and taking up an entire building, we went to the moon in basically a beer can. Several times.

And never again, since then. We "got rid of the technology."

The real problem is the radiation in the Van Allen Belt. This ionized layer actually protects us from a bunch of gamma rays, etcetera.

So, today, with superior materials and computers that can sit on a desk, why have we not been back?

Which leads to the question of did we go?

There, I think I have stirred up just enough feces...

Rifle Scopes Rifle Scope Selection and Advice

I am seeking some advice in selecting my next optic for my bolt gun. I currently own 1 Accuracy International AT where I interchange 6.5CM and 308 barrels, the system works for me by having essentially two rifles one platform. So, the optic is the going to be the marriage that keeps this system operating between the two cartridges.

About me, I am a 51-year-old retired disabled combat veteran that balances my weeks between Hospice work, surfing and shooting long range. By no means am I looking to make a shooting team going to matches, nor am I going back to parachute assaults, shooting and blowing stuff up anymore. Shooting for me keeps the link between the past and present in a healthy balance.

The last scope I ran was a Nightforce ATACR 7-35, in which I told myself, “This was my forever scope” until unforeseen circumstances came about, and I sold it. Since I have sold everything that is not bolted down and now have about 3K’ish (preferably less) as my budget.

Given my circumstances I am considering doing the Arken 7-35 or Bushnell Match Pro ED for under $1k route, However, since this scope is going on my one rifle that is going to age with me, do I stay with the budget scopes, or swinging for the fences and try and find a ZCO and hold on to it until it becomes a relic?

Let me know your thoughts

Thanks y’all

Torn Warriors Sniper Comp

Torn Warriors Sniper Golf 2024
Just got back from a Sniper Competition held for Veterans up in the Mountains in Wells Nevada ! There was a huge turn out from former special operations types, Infantry Snipers, Grunts, etc ! I lost both legs in Afghanistan in 2010 with 3rd Bn 1st Marines Scout Sniper Platoon and they had me in a Land Cruiser driving to each stage and shooting out of the rear hatch, since it was difficult to maneuver the environment in a wheelchair ! Great group of guys and gals at Torn Warriors if you’re looking to donate ! They host this event every year Labor Day weekend ! I will definitely be going back ! Scoring is based of a golf par system ! So it’s very fun and unique ! Winds can get above 30mph easily some mil holds were 5.5 mils (308) short action calibers only ! (308, 6.5 cm etc) your boy didn’t place high but had a great time, and still learned from other shooters !

Advice on Custom 7 mm PRC Rifle with Accuracy Issues

I had a gunsmith build a 7 mm prc using a heavy contour 26” 1-8 twist carbon six barrel. I have the barrel paired with a kelbly atlas lite action and grayboe Phoenix 2 stock. I have a nightforce nx8 scope and nightforce rings on a kelbly rail. I have 210 rounds through this barrel and have tried several good powders (h1000, rl25, retumbo, n565, n570, h4831sc) with hornady 175 eldx and 180 eldm bullets. I am using ADG brass. I cannot get any load to shoot better than about 3/4 moa. For comparison I reload for several factory rifles and have them all shooting below 1/2 moa. I expected to get Accuracy at least this good from this custom build. The gunsmith bedded the action because he thought the stock pillar bedding on the phoenix 2 was causing barrel deflection, but if anything the accuracy got slightly worse.

My gunsmith is recommending that I have the barrel cryogenically treated to improve accuracy. I have read threads on here that seem to have mixed advice on this and I haven't seen anybody discuss doing this on a carbon barrel, although I suppose it would work the same on the steel portion.

Basically I am looking for any and all advice on what to do. I don't claim to be an expert reloader, but with the success I have had with several factory guns, and the combinations I have tried with this gun, I feel confident that the issue is not with the load but with the gun.

What are Trump's immediate priorities... Post Inaugural?

Assume (miracle of miracles) that Pres. Trump is elected the 47th (and then certified by the Electoral College and congress) and inaugurated again on 01/20/2025). What should be his immediate priorities in the first month or so after inauguration? What should he do immediately, or "short term," keeping in mind that there will still be efforts against him or to remove him or sabotage his presidency? Should he "clean house" (I assume the transition team won't be getting much help at all from the Biden admin)? This, of course, assumes we also take back the Senate and get a favorable Majority leader, etc.

But what would you advise Trump to do in his first month or so after inauguration to protect himself? Who should he hire/fire day 1 (if they don't leave during the transition)? What would you advise him to do "tactically," right now, so he can do "strategic" things later on and "Make America Great Again?"

LaRue MTB 2S vs Geissele SD-C

Scoured the threads and I’m between these two. I want 2 stage good for overall use that will last. I like the tactical and duty options - I’m not competition shooting but I’m on the market for something good for CQB and long range if needed.

Most posts say MTB-2S is best bang for buck but if 171 is not prob would you still say the LaRue over the Geisele?

Right now AR15 discounts has the Larue for 90 and Geisele is 171
