Has anyone had an action/ or serialized part of a firearm lost by USPS ( or any other shipper) and could outline the experience?

I recently had a barrel lost in transit after having some work performed. My dilemma is shipping the action ( Stiller Tac30) out to be rebarreled and it being lost since it can’t readily take pre-fits. There is some sentimental value to the action so my concern would be zero chance of recovery if it was to be lost getting a replacement barrel.

I've noticed quite a few top pro shooters using white turret tape and was wondering if anyone knew what the deal is or know the inside baseball behind it. Anyone know specifically what they're using? Are they custom made or readily available from a known source?

The only thing close that I know of is from idts. Since these guys are based in Canada, I find it hard to believe so many shooters are sourcing from them.

What do yall think about US Optics for PRS? Foundation line in particular?

So; I've been in FL (Kissimmee, Orange Lake resort, specifically), for a week and a half so far, on vacation. I'm a native Mainer, so I'm used to outdoor life and it's critters.

Its been funny watching folks run from the trash pandas, that will climb in and out of the trash cans. Normal for us, we just shoot em if need be (rabid, aggressive, etc. Type behavior). I've been on the gator tours before, from the Everglades, to Boggy Creek. Can't believe how small the cows were there, and that they wander in the lake wi5h the gators. Also couldn't believe that the boat driver said the scariest part of his job, is avoiding hunters that camo out in the same swamps .

There's been gators in the resort ponds this year; we've never seen that before here, only heard and see the "don't feed" signs. My question is this:

This is exciting, it's not something you see every day! No abuse or anything, just shooting.

I noticed my hits were landing extremely low at 7yds while doing some drills. I tried to adjust it up to see what would happen and when I looked at the dot again, it was huge and fuzzy. I decided to mess with it later and use this opportunity to run my drills with irons. 3 rounds in and the glass launched downrange. To be fair, this was actually kind of nice because using the ironsights was much easier with the dirty glass and giant red fuzzball out of the way

Called Trijicon and they were just as surprised as I was. CS said that self-removing glass isn't a very common occurrence and it usually comes with some sort of trauma or abuse to the optic. To me, it looks like the glue never adhered to the metal housing as it all broke off extremely clean and there's very little glue stuck to the housing. They've sent me a prepaid label and it'll be going back today.

We have a 12 year old lab and he's not in particularly good shape. We're not quite there yet, but the writing is on the wall. I brought this up with my wife and she's at peace with putting him down when the time comes. Where our opinions differ is the method in which to do so.

I'd prefer to build a fire, lay out a couple of blankets and cook up some ribeyes for the two of us. I'd let him eat until his heart's content and wait for him to fall asleep under the stars before doing it myself. She thinks I'm an absolute monster for even suggesting this.

I can't bear the idea of dragging him to the vet and having a stranger poke and prod him on a cold steel table under blinding fluorescent lights in his final moments. I don't think I could forgive myself for that. Hell, I get choked up just typing this and I worry I don't have the stones to follow through. It just doesn't seem right to go about it any other way.

Any opinions?
