Post 64 Model 70 Match Rifle w/ 12x Unertl value

I've come across a post 64 national Match m70 in 308 with a nice 12x Unertl on top. The receiver is clip slotted and has the correct sight bases for the aperture set up. Definitely not a clone.

However the stock's pistol grip has been modified to suit a right handed shooter. The rest of the rifle appears in quite good condition.

I'm curious as to what the value on this rig might be in 2024, assuming a decent bore and functioning optic.

An idea for a better attempt at LPVO/MPVO setups, the ramblings of an unexciting and not particularly bright man.

Everyone is trying to have BOTH a fantastic and flat 1x while also maintaining image quality and resolution at 8-10x, perhaps the most difficult design achievement. The main reason variable power scopes have low end at all is for better FOV, less finicky eye box for difficult positions, when dealing with movers, scanning for targets, low light conditions, etc.

So if we assume a red dot is the ultimate 1x capability, as it's both eyes open giving maximum FOV, and has very little parallax concern, then:

Why don't mfg take a 4-20 (only a 5x erector) and flip it over in the mount. Make the elevation turret as low profile as humanly possible so it doesn't interfere with the mount itself and add set screws every 20* so the elevation turret can be locked from rotating (think similar function to a capped turret) but allow access from the sides and rotated for zeroing purposes. Once zeroed tighten down the set screws that are available. Take the formerly bottom, now top, perfectly flat area of the erector housing that's milled square and mill into it to accept Glock MOS plates so you can run any RDS you desire and you achieve some futureproofing and customer ability to choose an RDS of their preference.

Now the RDS is not 4" above the bore, but instead only barely above the scope tube itself, without an elevation turret to contend with at all for visual clearance. You don't have to float your chin or have a "beard weld" when using a 12 o'clock mount for passive aiming or 1x capability.

An MK5 3.6-18 is 26oz for reference. A Razor 1-10 is 21.5oz for reference.

I was going to vote early tomorrow, but should I/we wait until Nov.5?

Somebody responded to a poster on barfcom who said he early voted for Trump with "The Democrats appreciate your vote."

I'm not sure what he meant, other than it gives Democrats time to either switch the vote to a Democrat/Biden vote or see what the actual vote count for Trump is so they know how many fake Biden votes to come up with to remain "The most popular president ever."

Should I/you wait until Nov. 5 to vote before showing your hand? I play my cards close to my chest and don't want the enemy knowing my next move.

This is serious and a serious question.

Like we didn’t know this already…

Along with the Fentanyl the Glock Switches are a Chinese weapon.

Heck, they were shipping containers of FA AK’s to LA gangs in the 1990’s. And people are shocked by Glock Switches?

We have been at war with China for 30nyears since they blamed us for Tieneman square uprisings.

Sirhr

Numb nuts is going to the border.

When you understand how this political bullshit works.... It's funny and frustrating at the same time. Brownsville where Biden is going will be sanitized. The dem knuckleheads that watch CNN will believe sleepy Joe is doing a great job. SMFH.

Cerakote recommendations

Long story short I sent an atlas bipod and badger maxx mount off to get cerakoated to match my ax in sage green. It wasn’t even close and my bipod came back to me unassembled. I asked for the inside of the rings to be uncoated and left alone. Well they just ignored that and coated them anyway. I then try to just match it with some spray paint and really can’t find a good match.

Anyone have a recommendation who could take on the work and fix my dumb mistakes? Would really like this to all match up.

Stiller bolt damage

I had a primer pin hole leak and put a very small divot in the bolt face near the firing pin. The bolt is usable but leaves a tiny blister on the edge of the primer. My concern is that this could cause another primer leak and do severe damage to the rifle. This is a MK 13 MOD 7 in 300 win mag. I have another bolt ordered but would like to know if any one has experience having a bolt face repaired , if it is even possible. Thanks for any advice.

AERO Solus broken mag latch

Looking for a way to make contact with AERO. Unfortunately they do not answer or reply. Bought a new competition Solus bolt gun and the initial outing the plastic mag latch broke. Called to buy a replacement and was advised they do not sell them. Even offered to pay for shipping. Was told an RMA would have to be created and sent in for evaluation by R&D to see if eligible for warranty. So I did, over a month ago. No response, they have no update when I do get through and was told warranty dept. does not have a phone number and is at a different location. Don't want any troubles, just want a fargin mag latch. Anybody have an in at AERO? Ref RMA 184925.

The Gateway Pundit previously reported that an active-duty member of the U.S. Air Force carried out a shocking act of self-immolation outside the Israeli Embassy in Washington, D.C., on Sunday, according to officials from the Air Force and local law enforcement.

The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) arrived at the scene on the 3500 block of International Drive, NW, after being called to assist the United States Secret Service at around 1:00 p.m. local time.

A statement from the MPD stated, “An individual set themselves on fire in front of an embassy in the block.”

New build options. 6.5 vs. 7 PRC?

My son just built himself a new 6.5mm PRC rifle.
24” Proof carbon fiber barrel and a Zermatt TL3 short action.
FullSizeRender.jpeg

Now he wants me to build one to go shooting with him. My question is if I should stick to the 6.5 PRC or opt for 7 PRC? Pros and cons? I know the 6.5 has less recoil. I like. I’ve also heard the 6.5 has longer barrel life. I also like. Any suggestions or opinions appreciated.

Geissele 6 ARC in service with SOCCOM, some hands on comments.

As many of you know Geissele won a SOCOM contract and has been making deliveries of a small framed AR chambered in 6mm ARC. These comments are from my son who works with Naval Land Warfare.

The teams really like the rifle. Geissele won a pretty grueling competition and apparently they were very innovative. Some of the specific things that Geissele did include, a redesigned feed ramp for increased reliability with the 6mm. Steel inserts in the upper receiver to again help with reliability and durability with the higher pressure. A completely redesigned BCG made with a new steel that increased service life by 300%. A CHF chrome lined barrel that is getting close to the same accuracy as a stainless barrel with almost 200% more life between replacements. A ground up redesign of the magazines which apparently is a big deal. They are straight mags, not like 6.5 mags with the curve. It allows the use of current plate carriers without having to reconfigure them. The DMR guys like that they 6 ARC effectively has the same range as the .308 and similar wind fighting capability but they are able to carry 40% more ammo then a .308 loadout and still are lugging around less weight. For those of you that care, they are pairing them with some kind of 3x20 Schmidt and Bender short scope. The current accepted loadouts include a 14.5" variant and an 18" variant. They are currently evaluating a 12.5" variant and I think he said a 20".
