Beretta using loopholes to import guns to Russia.....

Looks like Beretta and it's owned subsidiaries have been importing weapons into Russia for some time now against sanctions through various loopholes. If accurate, seems pretty damning for Beretta, it would be one thing if they were coming in on the black market, but it sounds like Beretta is the a majority holder of the Russian company doing much of the importing, and are working with companies in connection to a well known arms dealer.

Be interesting to see if more details are made available.

AimSurplus Bad Customer Experience

Mods, if this is in the wrong forum section, please advise/move this thread.

Been a customer for almost 14 years now with AimSurplus, never had a bad interaction or experience prior to this year, albeit I only order from them 1-2 times a year.

Aimsurplus was notified multiple times that my order had not left the origin USPS center. After about 3 weeks past the estimated delivery date, I let them know that I still did not receive my order again. I contacted USPS, which verified that Aimsurplus had already received the claim and that they were refunded completely for their loss as a company. With me still being out of my money, I requested a chargeback via my credit card company. Aimsurplus was notified again, stating that USPS had refunded them completely confirming with me via email and Aimsurplus failed to contact me again letting me know that the issue was resolved. Aimsurplus feebly responded that since USPS resolved the claim and gave their company a full refund, they would "Send me a replacement." They then noticed that I performed a chargeback an entire month after the failed delivery, and told me that I was a customer they would not do business with again because I did a chargeback rather than "giving them a heads-up that I was about to request a chargeback." They continued to gaslight me like I was in the wrong, despite them failing to deliver my order for over a month and stated that chargebacks cost them more money -- even though they failed to resolve the issue prior to then.

Anyone else had a poor customer service interaction with this company?

Bang for your buck ammo suggestions

Hear me out...

I know all the high end 22LR out there will shoot exceptionally well, however a lot of that ammo starts to approach .223 ammo prices. I'm wondering which ammo are people using on the cheaper side that performs well.

I was running the black box Norma Tac-22 and it was fantastic. <10 SD, <1" consistant grouping at 50 yards, but the new red box stuff isn't quiet as good. The SDs are great, but the groupings are very inconsistent.

So is there anything out there that ppl are getting decent results without spending >.30/rnd?

TL;dr Running out of black box tac-22, need suggestions on low cost stuff to try.

Hawaii Supreme Court Scoffs at U.S. Supreme Court Ruling: ‘No State Constitutional Right to Carry a Firearm in Public’

On February 7, 2024, Hawaii’s Supreme Court issued a decision saying that the U.S. Supreme Court’s Bruen (2022) does not surpass Hawaii’s constitution, which recognizes “no state constitutional right to carry a firearm in public.”

The decision came in Hawaii v. Wilson, a case in which Wilson is seeking recognition of his right to carry a gun in public for self-defense without first acquiring a permit from the state.

Hawaii’s Supreme Court unanimously decided against Wilson, with Judge Todd Eddins, a Gov. David Ige (D) appointee, writing the majority opinion.

Eddins wrote, “We reject Wilson’s constitutional challenges. Conventional interpretive modalities and [Hawaii’s] historical tradition of firearm regulation rule out an individual right to keep and bear arms under the [Hawaii] Constitution.”

He then directly addressed the U.S. Supreme Court’s Bruen decision, which struck down New York’s proper cause requirement for concealed carry permit issuance.

Eddins wrote, “Bruen snubs federalism principles. Still, the United States Supreme Court does not strip states of all sovereignty to pass traditional police power laws designed to protect people.”

He later added, “States retain the authority to require that individuals have a license before carrying firearms in public.”

It remains to be seen what, if any, appellate action will be taken in light of another important aspect of the Bruen decision; namely, the recognition that the Second Amendment protects a right to carry a gun outside the home for self-defense.

On June 23, 2022, Breitbart News quoted Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas’s majority opinion, wherein he referenced previous cases affirming the right to keep and bear arms in the home for self-defense, then turned to Bruen and said, “In this case, petitioners and respondents agree that ordinary, law-abiding citizens have a similar right to carry handguns publicly for their self-defense.”

The case is Hawaii v. Wilson, No. SCAP-22-0000561 in the Hawaii Supreme Court.

This is going to be interesting!

The Marines

Question for all the Marines in the hide , I have a younger friend who's wanting to join, mid 20's, thin , bit of a pothead , but has worked as a roofer most of his adult life so used to hard work , but he's not a tough guy at all , not a sissy but never been in a fight , been bullied a little , I just don't think he's cut out for the Corp, my Question is do any of the former Marines especially recent ones , think a guy like this can pass basic training , I know it's not as tough as it was back in the past , but this guy's never had someone yelling in his face , he's kinda soft-spoken nonconfortational and I'm worried that if he doesn't pass basic , it might fuck him up emotionally, I'm I just being a worry wart.

arca mount benchrest plate

Hey all, looking for some advice. I'm new to precision rifles. Been reloading for years, but trying to improve my hand loading. I don't compete, but retired with a 200yd range on my property. Recently purchased a MPA pmr rifle. Loads of fun. In an effort to take the shooter out of the equation for load development I purchased a Sinclair competition bench rest. I need a plate for the benchrest. I see that 3" width is kinda the norm for the bench rest bags. I looked at the Sinclair bench rest adapter plate, but it is not compatible with an arca mount. Anyone have a suggestion for mounting a bench rest plate to my rifle with an arca clamp? I can get a cheap arca clamp, just need a suitable plate to affix. Thanks in advance!

PSA regarding mandrels...

Just a heads up/PSA... if using a mandrel with a Ti-N (gold) coating that's advertised as "not needing lube", disregard that advertisement.
Lube IS required.

This past weekend I expanded the necks on maybe 150 pieces of 6.5CM brass that had been wet tumbled and annealed. I didn't lube the necks during expansion just to see if it mattered. Yep. Expanding force was increased, and most importantly, at the end, it looked like there were streaks of galled brass running up the mandrel and it was very rough. I wrapped it in a cotton patch and hosed it down with Patchout & Accellerator and left it in the sink overnight. Patch was blue and purple the next morning, but was clean as a whistle and smooth again. Lesson learned.

No experience with the carbide versions or the "black" one from 21st Century, feel free to chime in.

Chime in with your experiences...

Ballistic glass

I know of a very large lot of used ballistic glass. Anybody have any ideas what to do with stuff like this?

Panels vary in size from about 27"x24" (estimated weight 100 lbs each) all the way up to 46"x67" (estimated weight 450 lbs each). These windows are very thick and EXTREMELY heavy.

There are about 100 windows on ten pallets of 1,800 lbs each. Total weight is 18,000 lbs.

The stuff is used, some is cloudy, damaged, etc.
