New 6 Creed problems with PETERSON brass

So I just had a 6 Creed built off my old Vanguard 240 WBY. It's what I had so it's what I used. Went with a 27" BRUX 8 twist Rem Varmint with 3 port lil beast brake, Adj McMillan A5, Timney trigger at 1.5#, NF 20 MOA base, MK4 rings, 8.5-25x MK4

The main plan for this rifle is just a long range coyote and steel rifle out here in EO to 1200 yards. I wanted to shoot the 108g ELDMs around 3100-3150 with H4350. Bought some Peterson LRP brass and this is where it gets interesting...

I started at 39.5g and went to 42g in .5g increments of H4350 with the 108g ELDMs and did 3 shot groups just to get an idea of velocity/accuracy. All went well until I hit 42g which left some nasty gas leakage on 1 of the cases. There were no obvious signs of pressure at 41/41.5/ or the other 2 cases of 42g. So I said ok, well 42g is obviously hot. Velocity was 3150 at 42g. I then came home and loaded up 10 rounds at 41g and went and shot them at 200 yards. I ended up popping 1 primer out the case and had gas leaks on 2 others. Group was 1" at 200 for those 10 shots. Velocity was 3140fps average. This had me pretty pissed off at that point since I was now wrecking brand new Peterson brass .7g below max loads in the Hornady manual. I called Peterson brass and explained my issue/concerns. He basically told me tough shit, you're hot rodding them. He also kept referencing the nosler manual which lists 39.5g of H4350 as MAX load. I said I see that, but I'm not shooting Noslers, I'm shooting Hornadys and their max is at 41.7g so I hardly call that hotrodding especially when everyone and their mom shoots 40.5-41.5g H4350 with 105/108s in a 6 Creed. He then said it didn't matter, load data goes by bullet weight. I thought to myself huh that's kinda funny because different bullets have different bearing surface and lengths, therefore differnece in pressure and load data. So after getting nowhere with him and being super pissed at that point I decided to try a 10 shot ladder and start way low at 37.8 and go to 40.5 in .3g increments. I hit a nice good node at 39.9/40.2/40.5 which resulted in a .8" 3 shot group at 300 yards with an ES of 20 and a Velocity of 3000fps. Going to just load the rest up at 40.2g at 3000fps and call it a day...For reference the Hornady match 108 ELDMs shoot 2980fps and do 1/2 MOA 5 shot groups.

I guess I can live with, but I would've thought a 6 Creed with a 27" tube would shoot a little faster than 3000fps and not be blowing primers and having gas leaks at 3100-3150 fpsSnapchat-1037300999.jpg20240208_162705.jpg20240208_162647.jpgSnapchat-769009616.jpg

Anybody else having issues with Peterson brass? It's my first time using it and honestly not super impressed with it. And definitely not impressed with the ding dong I spoke with. Horrible customer service and communication skills. I will NEVER buy another box of their brass, nor EVER recommend it to anyone at this point. I'm only using it because I don't want to spend another $150 on brass right now. I told the guy I'd ship it back to them and they can replace it. He said nope because you're hotrodding them. He must have told me that 10 times in our conversation. Whatever my guy...

Time for a new scale

My 40 year old RCBS 505 after hundreds of pounds of powder has finally given up.
I‘ve always thrown within a grain or 2 with my old Lyman measure put the pan on the 505 and trickled up.
Ive looked at electronic scales , but don’t think I’m willing to spend $500 to get the one I’ll be happy with.
So who makes a good sub $300 beam scale.
The 505 can still be had through Ohaus . Is it still a better scale than the Rcbs M500 ?

Mother mistakenly put her baby girl in an oven and killed her!

This fucking no good piece of shit cunt should be charged with first degree murder, but she is only charged with "endangering the welfare of a child"

What fucking kind of clown world do we live in? The fact that the article was even worded "mistakenly" makes my fucking blood boil.

You mistakenly put soap in the bleach compartment in your washing machine, you mistakenly put cat food in the dog food bowl, but there is no such thing as mistakenly putting your baby in the fucking oven and turning it on! What in the fuck is wrong with people?

Two triggers down in new impact 737R action. Is it me? Are there more reliable triggers?

Hello all!

I recently sold an AXSR to build a lighter rifle for Mammoth and related field competitions. I had a very reputable gunsmithing company build me a rifle on an Impact 737R action with a triggertech diamond. I have always been very careful to prevent lube or anything from getting into my trigger as I know these remington-style triggers can be finnicky.

Exactly 6 days before Mammoth Sniper in January, my rifle (which at this point had about 800 rounds through it with a couple of careful cleanings) decided to follow my striker home, which AD'd a round straight downrange. Not cool, especially 6 days before a competition I had been training for 8 months.

I overnighted a Bix N Andy 2 stage tacsport pro. It arrived, I got it set (although the weight adjustment screw was loctited and unable to be moved... I called the folks at Bix and they just asked "why would you want it any lighter than 1.5 lbs?" which I thought was odd.) I shot mammoth with it, which was very rainy on day 2 this year, and by the end of the match my trigger's first stage was super gritty and almost unusable. The trigger wouldn't even go back to neutral after you'd gone through the first stage it was so gritty. Just from some rain (and I kept my rifle covered during the rucks and before stages!!!)

I followed Bix's directions exactly on trigger cleaning, and put it all back together. It was pretty much as good as it was before.

This was about a month ago with two range trips (with no cleanings in between). Now, my Bix is doing the exact same thing as my TT Diamond. No matter how carefully I set the sear, one every 30-40 bolt closes has the sear follow it home.

Is there a trigger out there with reliability like my AXSR? Am I just an idiot? I am not sure. I would love any insights. I won't take this rifle to the range in a condition like this and I'm getting tired of spending $350 on triggers that don't seem safe.

Thanks so much for any help, I'm always still learning so your advice is greatly appreciated.

Who coulda seen this coming?

So being complete assholes to the citizens- rampantly corrupt, not going after violent criminals gangs or cartels and releasing violent criminals and violent illegal immigrants for years and now the public hates you and the violent criminals are attacking you? Cry me a fucking River.

I mean it certainly seems they can fight and have murder ape tendencies when confronted by teen girls

But I guess 109 pound Pedro is just too scary. Could get hurt ya know .

Accessories Give away. Sti magazine

My buddy sold his STI a couple of years ago. He found this mag the other day and gave it to me.

I'm giving this mag away and only ask for $7 to ship it. I will not be able to ship until next weekend.

I'm looking for the first person to post a pic of their pistol that is compatible with the magazine and their username on a piece of paper beside it.

I will add, I don't know much about these or 2011's so I honestly have no idea how much this thing is worth.

Weigh in on my next coyote rifle build

I’m in the beginning stages of building/assembling my next coyote specific rifle. I do prefer bolt action rifles, but I would surely consider an AR platform, the weight was always what turned me off to ARs for hunting. 95% of my hunting is done at night so a “dead right there” caliber would be preferred. Where I hunt, I seriously doubt I will ever shoot more than 250 yards, its just not possible. I also need a threaded barrel… lastly, I’d prefer not to blow them into smithereens, I like to keep the nicer furs

Currently in shoot a 223 savage axis, VERY accurate, but it’s isn’t threaded, I hate the Oryx chassis and there isn’t much aftermarket accessories available for the Axis line. With the 223 I’ve had a handful of coyotes make it 150 yards before dying which was a pain in the rear at night to find in tall grass.

Let me know what you guys are shooting.

SOLD Tac Ops X-Ray 51

Tac Ops X-Ray 51
21.5” Barrel
Win .308

$4800

Cashiers check, USPS Money Orders, or direct transfers.

EDIT: Many have asked about the threading for a suppressor, it is: 9/16-24

*** New information added ***

I tried to find a bore scope that would fit but none are small enough to work. Consequently, I will be retaking pictures of the barrel in hopes of better pictures of the throat and bore. I have also learned my brother shot a few boxes of Federal Match King 168gr through the gun while house-sitting. This fact was not revealed until he read my ad listing and revealed to me that he had shot it. I want to be clear that it has been fired, but not much.

I have added a postcard with my screen name and today’s date for those concerned about the legitimacy of the rifle for sale. The picture is full size to allow full zoom.

Purchased in as new condition from fellow SH member dark_mirror about 10-12 years ago. The rifle has fired approximately 40 rounds and stored in humidity controlled safe. Will take more pics if requested and happy to speak to a seriously interested individual. Rifle has 21.5” barrel and comes with Pelican 1750 rolling case in tan, unused Birdsong green scope rings, reamer, bipod, stock storage pouch as pictured. A stellar rifle from a legendary company.

I have one sale on this site and three firearm purchases. Additionally, I have extensive references available from high-end transactions of my professional recording studio equipment. Please feel free to contact me with any questions. Located in the metropolitan Oklahoma City area.

260 Vs. 6.5 Creedmore

Thinking about getting a Seekins HIT rifle in either 260 or 6.5 Creedmore. Would be shooting PRS out to 1000 yards. Which cartridge is easier to develop accurate loads for? Leaning towards the 260 because I have a lot of 308 brass. Yes, I would buy brass for either, but if things ever get crazy having the ability to make 260 brass would be nice.

First Build and Critiques

I'm right in the beginning stages of my first competition build. I have been praciting with an off-the-shelf rifle in 6.5CM for the past 3 years. Now wanting to move to a more competative setup and cartridge. I am a reloader BTW. I have a list below of everything I have planned out. But I am open to any critiquing needed to better this build. I already ordered up the barreled action, which is about 5 months out, but it's not too late to make changes as I wait in the lineup. I welcome all suggestions. Thank you all!
